The quickest way to watermark new photos on a supported Samsung Galaxy is to open Camera → Settings → Watermark, turn the feature on, customize the label, and take a new picture. For photos already in Gallery—or for a custom logo with precise placement—use Samsung’s editing tools if available, or an image editor such as Canva, Adobe Express, or Photoshop Express.
Use Samsung’s built-in Camera watermark
Samsung’s native watermark is designed mainly for photos you take after enabling the setting. Depending on your Galaxy model and software, it can add the phone’s model name, a custom text label, the date, and the time. Some models also provide font and alignment controls. Samsung’s documented instructions are available in its Camera watermark guide.
- Open the Samsung Camera app.
- Tap the Settings gear.
- Tap Watermark.
- Switch the watermark on.
- Edit the displayed model-name text, if your phone offers custom text.
- Turn Date and time on or off.
- Choose an available font and alignment.
- Return to the viewfinder and take a test photo.
The mark is visibly embedded in each new image captured while the setting is enabled. It is not simply a caption that appears only inside Gallery.

Take a test shot before photographing a large batch. Check the wording, position, and size in Gallery first, because Samsung’s controls are more limited than those in a dedicated design app.
Turn off the watermark
To stop adding it to future photos, go to Camera → Settings → Watermark and switch it off.
Turning the setting off does not clean photos that were already saved with a watermark. Samsung warns that an applied watermark cannot normally be removed through the Camera watermark control. You would need to crop or retouch the image in an editor, and those methods may reduce quality or leave visible artifacts. Keep an untouched original whenever possible.
What to do if Watermark is missing
Watermark is not available on every Samsung phone. Its presence can vary by Galaxy model, carrier or region, Android version, One UI edition, and software build. The option may also be absent from simplified “Core” versions of One UI or exposed under slightly different wording after an update. Samsung’s One UI information and model-specific update documentation illustrate why camera features should not be assumed to be universal.

Try these checks:
- Confirm that you opened Samsung’s default Camera app, not a third-party camera.
- Open Camera settings and look through the picture or shooting options.
- Install available system and Camera-app updates.
- Restart the phone.
- If the menu appears incomplete or corrupted, use the Camera app’s Reset settings option, if present.
- Try another camera mode; some settings are displayed differently across modes.
A reset cannot add a feature that your model does not support. If Watermark remains unavailable, use an image editor after taking the photo.
Can you watermark a photo already in Gallery?
Samsung’s native Camera watermark is intended for future captures; it is not a universal tool for applying a watermark to arbitrary existing Gallery photos.
Your particular Gallery editor may include tools named Text, Stickers, Add image, Overlay, Markup, or Drawing. If so, those tools may work for a one-off text mark or sticker. Labels and capabilities vary by Galaxy model and software, so do not expect every phone to import a transparent logo.
For a reusable logo, adjustable opacity, or exact positioning, a dedicated editor is usually more predictable.

Add a watermark with Canva
Canva is a practical option for existing photos, logos, and repeatable branded layouts. Its official watermark-photo workflow supports mobile editing.
- Open the Canva mobile app.
- Create or open an image project.
- Upload the photo.
- Upload your watermark image—preferably a transparent PNG—or add text.
- Place the watermark over the photo.
- Resize, rotate, and adjust its opacity.
- Export the finished image.
Canva is useful when you want the same logo or layout repeatedly. Its normal workflow requires an account, and Canva says working files are saved online. That is convenient for templates but worth considering for private images or an offline-only workflow. Check export settings so the finished image is not unnecessarily downscaled or recompressed.
Add a watermark with Adobe Express or Photoshop Express
Adobe’s apps are useful if you already use its ecosystem or want broader branded-content tools.
Adobe Express
- Open Adobe Express and import the photo.
- Choose the image or overlay option.
- Add a logo or text watermark.
- Position and resize it.
- Lower the opacity if the control is available.
- Export a copy.

Photoshop Express
Photoshop Express has a more focused photo-editing workflow. Import the photo, use Add Image to insert a logo or other watermark image, adjust its size and position, and save a copy. Adobe documents this process in its Photoshop Express watermark instructions. Photoshop Express and Adobe Express are separate apps, so their menus are not identical.
How to design a useful watermark
- Use a transparent PNG for a clean logo overlay.
- Keep it visible without making it dominate the image.
- Use enough contrast to remain readable on both light and dark backgrounds.
- For casual branding, place it near an edge—but leave enough margin to survive social-media cropping.
- For stronger deterrence against casual reuse, use a faint mark across a meaningful part of the image rather than only at the edge. An edge watermark is easier to crop out.
- Use a name, logo, or social handle if attribution matters more than identifying the phone.
- Watermark an exported copy and retain the untouched original.
- Inspect the final file at full size before sharing.
A watermark can identify the creator and discourage casual reuse, but it cannot prevent screenshots, cropping, retouching, or redistribution. It is not a substitute for keeping originals, preserving relevant metadata, or using formal rights-management measures.

These are different features. The Camera watermark is a user-controlled setting for new photos. Samsung separately adds a visible AI watermark to images or artwork created with supported Galaxy AI tools. Samsung describes this behavior in its support pages for Galaxy AI image editing and AI Drawing Assist.
If an AI-generated or AI-edited image has a mark even though you never enabled Camera → Settings → Watermark, it may be Samsung’s automatic AI-content label rather than the normal camera watermark.

Common problems
The watermark appears on every new photo
Camera watermark is still enabled. Go to Camera → Settings → Watermark → Off. Existing marked photos will remain marked.
The watermark is too large or poorly positioned
Samsung’s native feature has limited layout controls. Disable it for future photos and use a manual overlay editor when branding or placement matters.
The watermark changes after sharing
Social platforms may resize, crop, recompress, or reframe an image. Check the shared preview and avoid placing important text close to edges likely to be cropped.

Does Samsung watermark photos I have already taken?
No. The built-in Camera watermark is for new photos captured while it is enabled. Use a Gallery tool if your phone offers one, or an image editor for an existing photo.

Turning the setting off only affects future photos; it does not remove a mark already embedded in an image. Cropping or retouching may reduce quality or leave artifacts, so keep an untouched original when possible.
Why can’t I find Watermark in my Samsung Camera settings?
The feature is not available on every Galaxy model, and menus vary by software, carrier, and region. Check the Samsung Camera app and install available updates; if the option remains missing, use an image editor.
Can I add my own logo with Samsung’s built-in watermark?
