Use one rose design from start to finish: origami rose folds are model-specific, so steps from different tutorials will not necessarily fit together. For a beginner-friendly starting point, use the illustrated Origami.org rose tutorial. It begins with a square sheet positioned like a diamond, a center crease, and side corners folded toward that crease; follow its diagrams for the remaining shaping folds.

What you need
- One square sheet of paper. A 15 × 15 cm square is a supported size for the OrigamiOK model and for the Origami.me fractal rose, but paper size is model-specific. The Gathered tutorial says its rose can be learned with 21 × 21 cm paper and that 15 × 15 cm can also be used.
- Optional: a thin, smooth cylindrical tool such as a thin pen for curling the petals at the end. You can also use your fingertips or nails.
For a two-color effect, choose double-sided paper: the Gathered tutorial notes that the reverse color shows at the center of its rose. Its finished model lies flat, so choose it if you want a rose suited to a card or other flat display.
How to fold the Origami.org rose
Keep the Origami.org diagram beside you and work through its images in order. The steps below identify the opening folds described for this model; use its diagrams, rather than another rose tutorial, for the later shaping folds.

- Start with a square. Place the paper in front of you as a diamond, with one corner pointing toward you.
- Make the center crease. Fold as shown in the tutorial’s first diagram, crease the fold, then open it so the crease marks the center.
- Bring the side corners toward the crease. Fold each side corner toward the center crease, matching the positions shown in the diagram.
- Continue with the same tutorial’s shaping folds. Follow each image in sequence to complete the rose. Do not substitute the collapse, rotation, or petal-curling steps from a different model; those instructions belong to their own diagrams.
Choose a different model if its result suits your project better
These tutorials make different roses; their sizes, steps, and results are not interchangeable.

Make the folds easier to follow
- Pause at each diagram and check the paper’s orientation before folding. A rotated model can make the next corner or edge difficult to identify.
- Crease carefully, especially where several folds meet. Align the edges before pressing the crease flat.
- If the instructions’ fold symbols or views are unfamiliar, OrigamiOK recommends starting with its beginner guide to learn the basics and read its step-by-step instructions.
- Shape petals only when the selected tutorial reaches that stage. Origami.me describes curling petals as an optional finish; a thin pen can help form a curve, but it is not required.
