To make the eraser larger in Microsoft Paint on Windows 11, select the Eraser tool and drag the size slider beside the canvas until it reaches the width you want. Then drag across the image to erase. If you cannot find the slider, check your Paint version and update the app through the Microsoft Store.
Increase eraser size with the Paint slider
- Open the image in Paint.
- Select the Eraser tool from the toolbar.
- Find the size slider beside the canvas.
- Drag the slider to preview and choose a wider eraser.
- Drag across the area you want to erase.
Microsoft says the size slider appears when you select the eraser, pencil, or a brush. The slider was documented in Paint version 11.2402.32.0 during its 2024 Windows Insider rollout; the cited announcement does not specify a current stable-channel minimum version. What to do if the size slider is missing
- Confirm that the Eraser tool is selected; the slider is shown for supported tools.
- Check the version of Paint installed on your PC.
- Check for a Paint update in the Microsoft Store, then reopen the app and look for the slider again.
The slider may not be present in every installation. Microsoft documented it in Paint version 11.2402.32.0 as part of its 2024 Windows Insider rollout, but that announcement does not establish a current stable-channel minimum version.

Microsoft’s keyboard-shortcut reference lists Ctrl + Plus and Ctrl + Minus for changing brush size, but it does not explicitly identify these as eraser-sizing shortcuts in the current Windows 11 Paint interface. You can try them as a possible alternative, but use the size slider as the documented way to adjust the eraser.

Where is the eraser size control in Paint?
Select the Eraser tool. The size slider appears beside the canvas; drag it to choose a wider or narrower eraser.
Why is the size slider missing in my Paint app?
The feature may not be available in your installed version. Check your Paint version and look for an update in the Microsoft Store. Microsoft documented the slider in version 11.2402.32.0 during its 2024 Windows Insider rollout.

Does Ctrl + Plus definitely increase eraser size?
Microsoft lists Ctrl plus/minus for changing brush size, but its shortcut reference does not explicitly confirm eraser sizing in current Windows 11 Paint. Treat it as a possible alternative; the slider is the documented control.
