A boo basket is a Halloween gift in a basket or another container, filled with a few items chosen for the recipient. How to make a boo basket
- Choose the recipient and budget. Consider their age, interests, known food allergies or sensitivities, and whether you want a playful, cozy, snack-focused, or activity-focused gift.
- Choose a suitable container. Use a basket or another stable, reusable container sized for the items. A Halloween gift basket is a straightforward option; choose based on dimensions, material, and whether the recipient can reuse it.

The FDA advises adults to inspect children’s Halloween treats before they are eaten and to discard suspicious or damaged wrappers. For very young children, the FDA identifies gum, peanuts, hard candies, and small toys as choking hazards. Follow age guidance and keep small detachable decorations and toys out of reach when they are not suitable. CPSC safety alerts also warn about hazards such as plastic film coverings, strings or straps, and button-cell batteries; check product warnings and keep loose batteries inaccessible.
Avoid candles and other open-flame items in a child’s basket. If you include a light-up decoration or toy, check its age and battery warnings. Keep open flames away from loose, flowing fabric and combustible decorations.
