The Stunning Star-Crossed Quilt is a 58½-inch-square throw with nine 16-inch finished blocks: five A blocks and four B blocks arranged in three alternating rows. The AllPeopleQuilt pattern gives color-based fabric requirements and step-by-step assembly instructions; its index lists the pattern as free, with the current download route on the project page.

What the pattern makes
American Patchwork & Quilting Editors present this version as a rich red, brown, and cream color option. It is inspired by “Star-Crossed,” a design by Corey Yoder of Coriander Quilts, rather than a claim that this color version is the original design. The published project page was updated December 17, 2025. See the project page and the related Star-Crossed listing.

The pattern uses Chocolate and Cherry collection fabrics by Marsha McCloskey for Clothworks as its sample. Its materials are specified by color and role, however, so that collection is not required; its present availability is not established by the project page.

Fabric and batting requirements
The cutting plan assumes fabric with 42 inches of usable width, and the measurements include ¼-inch seam allowances. Check the usable width of your fabric before relying on the stated yardage.
| Fabric or material | Quantity | Pattern role |
|---|---|---|
| Dark brown print | ½ yard | Block pieces |
| Cream print | 1⅝ yards | Block pieces |
| Brown print | ⅔ yard | Block pieces |
| Assorted prints | Five 10-inch squares | Star fabrics |
| Assorted red prints | Five 9-by-21-inch fat eighths | Star fabrics |
| Red floral | ⅓ yard | Inner border |
| Brown polka dot | 1 yard | Outer border |
| Red polka dot | ½ yard | Binding |
| Backing fabric | 3⅞ yards | Quilt backing |
| Batting | 68-inch square | Quilt interior |
These are the quantities in the published pattern, not a comparison of fabric brands or a guarantee that a substitute fabric with a different usable width will cover every cut.

How the quilt is assembled
- Cut the fabrics into the strips, squares, and rectangles specified in the pattern.
- Piece dark brown and brown Four-Patch units, then combine them into corner units.
- Make star-point units from the assorted prints and red prints. Prepare separate rectangle units for the B blocks.
- Assemble five A blocks and four B blocks.
- Arrange the blocks in three alternating rows and join them to form the quilt center.
- Add the red floral inner border and brown polka-dot outer border.
- Layer the top with the backing and 68-inch-square batting, baste, quilt, and bind using the red polka-dot binding strips.
Follow the pattern’s cutting diagrams and piecing order for the exact cut sizes and unit assembly; the overview above is not a substitute for those instructions.
Quilting the finished top
Quilt the layered project as desired. For its published sample, Marie Eldredge quilted the A-block stars with a freehand feather-and-circle design, used geometric lines elsewhere, and added a computerized feather design in the B-block centers. The credits mention an HQ Infinity machine and Pro-Stitcher for that sample; they describe the published quilting, not required equipment. The page also credits Laura Boehnke as quilt tester and Handi Quilter for machine quilting.
