Freepik is now presented as Magnific, so look for Magnific when using the current product. Its Free plan offers limited daily access, including up to 20 AI image generations per day with the in-house model; it is for personal use, requires attribution, and does not include a commercial license.
To create an image, sign in, open the AI Suite’s Image Generator, describe the image in a prompt, adjust the available settings, and generate. You can retrieve the automatically saved result to download, vary, or edit it.
Is Freepik’s AI image generator really free?
Yes. Magnific (formerly Freepik) offers a Free plan with limited daily access. The vendor lists up to 20 AI image generations per day with its in-house model. Confirm the allowance and model availability shown in your account before planning a batch of images, as these product details can change.
The Free plan is for personal use and requires attribution; it does not include a commercial license. AI-image downloads are separate from the daily stock-download limit, but that does not change the license for the image. Check the current plan documentation before using an image for a client, advertising, merchandise, or another commercial purpose.

What is Magnific (formerly Freepik)’s AI image generator?
Magnific’s Image Generator creates images from text prompts. An optional reference image can guide style, composition, or layout. Available models and settings may vary.
For painters and visual creators, it can help explore compositions, colors, lighting, and visual ideas for personal projects. It can also produce variations of a scene for further editing. Treat generated images as creative starting points and inspect them before use.
Use the official AI Image Generator rather than an unofficial site. Magnific documents browser use on desktop and mobile; no software download is required.
What you need before starting
- A Magnific account.
- A browser on desktop or mobile.
- An idea of the subject and the image you want.
- Optionally, a reference image you own or are authorized to use.
How to create an AI image with Magnific
- Sign in or create an account. The available plan and usage limits are associated with your account.
- Open the AI Suite and choose Image Generator.
- Enter a prompt. Describe the subject and the composition, style, or layout you want.
- Optionally add a reference image. Use one you have permission to upload, and explain what it should guide.
- Adjust the available model and settings. Options and access may vary by account and model.
- Generate and review the result. Check that it suits your purpose before downloading or editing.
- Retrieve or continue working on it. Creations are saved automatically; find the result in Recent creations, History, or the project area.
Choosing a model
Model access and credit costs vary. Check the model and configuration details in the live interface before generating, especially if you are comparing options or managing a limited allowance. Do not assume that every model is available on the Free plan or costs the same per image.

Choosing an aspect ratio
Choose from the aspect-ratio or layout settings available for your selected model, if offered. Consider where you intend to use the image before generating so the composition fits its destination.
How to write a good prompt
A useful starting structure is:
Subject + setting or action + composition + style + lighting or colors + intended use

For example: “A quiet coastal village at dawn, viewed from a slightly elevated wide angle, atmospheric landscape painting, soft mist, cool blue-gray shadows and warm ochre sunlight, landscape composition for a painting reference.”
Describe the main subject first. Add details about placement, viewpoint, style, lighting, and mood when they matter. Begin with one coherent scene; conflicting instructions can make the result less consistent. Refine the prompt in later attempts by changing one major element at a time.
Weak versus specific prompts
Weak: A car
More specific: A vintage forest-green coupe parked outside a desert motel, three-quarter front view, long late-afternoon shadows, muted roadside colors, cinematic editorial photograph, landscape composition.

Handling text in generated images
Inspect any generated lettering carefully. If exact wording matters, consider generating the image without text and adding the final wording yourself in an editor.

A reference image can guide style, composition, or layout, but it does not guarantee an exact copy or accurate details. Upload an image only if you own it or are authorized to use it.
- Choose or upload a reference image using the available image input.
- Write a prompt explaining what the image should guide and what should change.
- Adjust the available model and settings.
- Generate and inspect the result.
For example: “Use the uploaded image as a composition reference. Replace the mug with a glass bottle, preserve the overhead arrangement, and use a pale green background.”
Take care with copyrighted artwork, private photographs, recognizable real-person likenesses, client materials, and brand assets. A subscription does not remove your responsibility to respect third-party rights.
How to download and edit a generated image
Magnific says creations are saved automatically. Find a result in Recent creations, History, or the project area. Depending on the available tools, you can download it, create variations, or continue editing. The vendor also documents editing, resizing, upscaling, and background removal.

AI-tool downloads save directly to your device and do not count toward the separate daily stock-download limit. That distinction does not change the usage rights for the generated image.

Can you use free AI images commercially?
No commercial use is included in the Free plan described by Magnific: it is for personal use and requires attribution. Magnific says paid plans include a commercial license, but check the exact terms of your plan before using an output commercially. Do not confuse the license for AI-generated content with licenses for stock assets in the platform’s content library.
