Remaker AI is a browser-based collection of tools for improving existing photos and video clips. Use Photo Enhancer for still images and AI Video Enhancer for existing footage. Choose a mode that matches the problem—such as Upscale, Unblur, Portrait, Text Enhance, or Old Photo—then generate, inspect, and download the result.
It is convenient for quick, low-friction edits, but it is not a replacement for a full professional editor or a guaranteed restoration tool. AI may invent detail, change facial features, distort text, or create flicker in video. Remaker also uses credits, so check the cost shown in your account before clicking Generate.

What Remaker AI can enhance
Remaker AI is not one conventional photo editor with layers, masks, and adjustment sliders. It is a platform containing specialized AI tools. For improving existing media, the most relevant options are:

- Unblur Image: Attempts to reduce softness and blur.
- Old Photo Restoration: Attempts to repair scratches, creases, fading, and discoloration.
- AI Video Enhancer: Processes existing video in the cloud and advertises output up to 4K.
- Image-to-Video: Creates new motion and transitions from still images. This is animation or generation, not ordinary enhancement of an existing video. See Remaker’s Image-to-Video tool separately.
That last distinction matters. If you have a family recording, product demonstration, or painting reference video that already exists, use Video Enhancer. If you have a still photograph and want Remaker to animate it, use Image-to-Video. The latter synthesizes motion rather than simply cleaning up the original footage.
Before you start
Keep the original file
Make a duplicate before uploading. AI enhancement creates a new processed file; it does not give you a reversible adjustment history. Keep the untouched original as your source of record and compare it with the result.

Use the highest-quality source available. A camera original is preferable to a screenshot or an image downloaded from a social network. Repeatedly opening and saving a JPEG can add compression damage, so avoid using an already re-exported copy when a better original exists.
Use a suitable file and device
Format support is tool-specific and Remaker’s public pages do not document it consistently. The Image Upscaler page explicitly lists JPG, PNG, and WEBP. The Photo Enhancer FAQ separately claims support for RAW, JPEG, and PNG. Because those lists differ, try JPG or PNG first if an unusual RAW, HEIC, TIFF, or WEBP file fails; do not assume that a format accepted by one Remaker tool will work in another.
The Video Enhancer page says the browser tool works on PC, Mac, and mobile devices and accepts multiple video formats, but it does not publish a complete current list of containers, codecs, file sizes, durations, frame rates, or maximum resolutions. For a video, use a short, standard, widely compatible file and trim it before uploading where possible. Make sure the file plays normally on your device first.
For Image-to-Video, Remaker lists JPG, PNG, and WEBP image inputs. Those formats do not establish the limits for Photo Enhancer or Video Enhancer.

Remaker processes media through a cloud service. Do not upload confidential photographs, unreleased business footage, personal documents, or sensitive client work until you have reviewed the current privacy and cookies policy and accepted the implications of cloud processing.

Only upload media you own or have permission to use. Obtain consent before materially altering another person’s likeness, particularly with face restoration or other face-related tools. Remaker’s terms prohibit unlawful images and videos, unlawful deepfakes, and using a person’s likeness without proper consent. Its content policy also addresses harmful impersonation, harassment, harmful misinformation, and other unlawful or harmful uses.
Check your credits
Some Remaker tools can be tried without signing up, but free access does not mean unlimited processing. The Photo Enhancer page is currently labeled No Sign-up and displays an upload interface directly. An account may still be needed for credits, task history, VIP features, or other tools. Sign-in requirements can vary by tool and may change.
How to enhance a photo with Remaker AI
- Open Photo Enhancer. Go to remaker.ai/photo-enhancer/. The current page includes an upload control, sample images, enhancement modes, settings, a Generate button, and a My Creation area.
- Upload a copy of your image. Choose the best original available. If the subject is extremely small, a sensible crop can help, but do not crop away important context before you have saved the full original.
- Select the narrowest mode that fits the problem. Choose Upscale for size, Unblur for mild softness, Enhance for general tonal improvement, Portrait / Face Restore for a recognizable but unclear face, Text Enhance for text-heavy imagery, or Old Photo for vintage damage.
- Adjust the visible settings. For Upscale, the current interface shows Fast, Quality, and a default 2× scale factor. Fast is sensible for a quick preview or casual social post. Quality is the more appropriate starting point for an image that will be enlarged or closely inspected, assuming it is available for the selected mode. Remaker does not publish comparative benchmarks proving that Quality is always visibly better.
- Check the generation cost. The current Photo Enhancer interface displays Generate costs 3 or 1. The page does not clearly explain which exact mode or setting corresponds to each amount, so treat the live label in your session as authoritative rather than assuming one universal price.
- Click Generate. Wait for Remaker to process the image. Photo pages describe the process as fast, but do not treat that as a guaranteed turnaround time.
- Inspect the result at two sizes. At 100% zoom, look for invented details, halos, distorted edges, and incorrect text. At the final size where people will actually see the image, decide whether the improvement is genuinely noticeable.
- Download the result and retain both files. Use a new filename, such as
family-photo-remaker-enhanced.jpg, rather than replacing the original.
Which Photo Enhancer mode should you choose?

What “enhance” actually means
Enhancement can involve several different operations, and they should not be confused:

- The number of pixels in an image or video frame. Upscaling increases the pixel dimensions.
- Sharpness
- Perceived edge definition. Sharpening can make an image look clearer, but excessive sharpening creates bright or dark halos.
- Noise reduction
- Suppression of grain, sensor noise, or compression artifacts. Too much can erase genuine texture and produce a plastic appearance.
- Color correction
- Changes to brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, or color balance.
- Restoration
- An attempt to repair visible damage such as scratches, creases, fading, or blur.
- AI reconstruction
- New pixels or details inferred by a model rather than directly recovered from the source.
Remaker describes its photo tools as adjusting sharpness, brightness, contrast, color, noise, and resolution. For video, Remaker says its model works frame by frame and attempts to improve sharpness, color accuracy, noise, texture, and motion stability. These are product descriptions, not independent performance measurements.
Most importantly, an enhancer cannot reliably recover information that was never captured. A generative super-resolution system can produce a visually convincing eye, texture, brick pattern, or letter that does not match the original. This is a known risk in generative super-resolution research; see recent research on hallucinated details. Treat the result as an improved interpretation, not automatically as a factual recovery.
How to get better photo results
Use one targeted mode first
Do not automatically run an image through every available mode. Sequential AI processing can exaggerate sharpening, smooth away texture, or alter a face repeatedly. Start with the narrowest mode, inspect it, and only try another version if the first result does not solve the actual problem.
Choose the right trade-off
- Use Upscale when the main problem is size.
- Use Unblur when the image is soft but the subject is already captured reasonably well.
- Use Enhance for a dull or flat image, but compare colors carefully.
- Use Portrait / Face Restore only when a face is recognizable and identity changes would not create a serious problem.
- Use Text Enhance to aid visual inspection, never as the sole authority for a legal, financial, medical, or evidentiary document.
- Use Old Photo for visible physical damage, while preserving a high-quality scan of the damaged original.
Be especially careful with artwork
If you are a painter digitizing a finished work or improving a reference photograph, retain the original scan or camera file. Automatic enhancement can shift color, increase contrast, smooth brush texture, or sharpen canvas weave. That may make an online image more attractive, but it can make it less reliable for color matching, catalog records, restoration documentation, or reproductions.

Inspect more than the subject
Check eyes, teeth, hair, fingers, jewelry, logos, text, repeating patterns, straight architectural lines, and background details. Also look for halos around high-contrast edges and plastic-looking skin caused by aggressive noise reduction.
How to enhance an existing video with Remaker AI
- Open AI Video Enhancer. Go to remaker.ai/video-enhancer/. Remaker presents this as a browser and cloud-processing workflow that can be used on PC, Mac, and mobile browsers.
- Upload a short test segment first. Before spending credits on a full recording, choose a representative section containing the most difficult material: a face, movement, dark areas, fine texture, text or subtitles, camera shake, or compression artifacts.
- Cut the section to enhance. Remaker’s page says its online cutting function lets you pre-cut the portion requiring enhancement. Remove blank footage, long pauses, unused introductions, and sections that do not need processing.
- Click Generate. Remaker advertises enhancement up to 4K. That is an output ceiling, not a promise that low-resolution footage will acquire native 4K-level information.
- Wait for processing. Time varies with the source, duration, resolution, queue, and system load. The page says results are delivered in minutes, but a fixed turnaround should not be assumed.
- Watch the downloaded result in motion. Do not judge a video from one impressive still frame. Check multiple sections and the entire clip if it is important.
- Download and preserve the source. Remaker’s Video Enhancer page says completed task records remain available for download for 30 days. The API documentation gives the same 30-day deletion period for generated videos. Download important work promptly rather than using Remaker as archival storage.
What to inspect in an enhanced video
- Temporal consistency: Does detail flicker or change shape between frames?
- Faces: Do eyes, mouths, or facial contours shift unnaturally?
- Hair, foliage, and textures: Do they shimmer or crawl as the camera moves?
- Text and subtitles: Do letters remain stable and accurate?
- Edges: Are there excessive halos, ringing, or motion trails?
- Dark areas: Has noise reduction removed real detail or introduced banding?
- Framing: Did the aspect ratio, crop, or image boundaries change?
- Sound: Is the audio present and synchronized?
- File information: Check whether the output preserved the audio track, subtitles, timecode, and metadata you need. Remaker’s public page does not promise that every stream or metadata field will be preserved.
Is Remaker AI free?
Remaker is free to try in some cases, but it is not unlimited free enhancement. The Photo Enhancer page says No Sign-up and currently shows a generation cost. Remaker’s homepage presents a credit-based model rather than a recurring subscription and advertises one-time packs ranging from $5.99 for 200 credits to $299 for 20,000 credits. The homepage says purchased credits do not expire.
Other current Remaker pages commonly advertise 30 free credits for new users, but the exact grant and eligibility can depend on the account, promotion, or tool. Check the credit balance and task price in your own account before generating. Costs may differ according to the tool, model, resolution, duration, or account status. The Photo Enhancer label “Generate costs 3 or 1” should not be converted into a universal price for every photo mode or video task.
Remaker also has a pricing page, but prices and JavaScript-rendered account details can change. Treat the live checkout and generation screen as the final reference.
Refund conditions
Remaker’s current terms describe limited refund eligibility. A refund request must concern the account’s first purchase, no more than 50 credits may have been used, and the request must be submitted within three days of purchase. If approved, the refund is returned to the original payment method within 5–10 business days. The terms say support requests may take up to 48 hours for a response. If credits appear to be deducted unexpectedly, save screenshots of the task, credit balance, and error before contacting support.
Privacy, consent, copyright, and commercial use
Cloud processing and retention
Remaker’s general privacy policy discusses log data, device information, cookies, account information, billing information, third-party service providers, and international data transfers. It says data may be stored on servers in the United States or other territories and acknowledges that no security system is perfect.
The Video Enhancer’s 30-day availability statement refers to completed task records and generated video downloads. It should not be interpreted as a promise that every uploaded asset, log, backup, or account record is deleted immediately. Do not claim that Remaker never stores files or never uses uploads for training unless the current policy for the specific tool explicitly makes that promise.

Consent and likeness
Enhancing a person’s image can be more consequential than adjusting exposure. Get permission before restoring or materially altering someone else’s likeness. Do not use face restoration to manufacture a supposedly authentic appearance from a severely degraded image, and do not use Remaker for unlawful deepfakes or harmful impersonation.
Commercial rights
Do not assume that every Remaker output is automatically cleared for commercial use. Remaker’s Image-to-Video page says generated videos can be used for commercial projects, but the general terms contain broader website-license and intellectual-property language. Commercial use depends on the particular tool, the source photograph or video, third-party assets, likeness consent, copyright, and the current terms. Confirm those points before using an output in advertising, a commissioned painting, a product listing, or paid client work.
Evidence and authenticity
An enhanced file is not automatically evidence of what a camera captured. The NIST definition of enhancement describes it as improving perceptual recognition or quality. NIST’s work on forensic image enhancement emphasizes systematic and reproducible evaluation of enhancement settings. For legal, investigative, medical, or historical claims, preserve the original and disclose that an AI process was applied.

A practical recovery sequence for a disappointing photo is: reopen the original, select a narrower mode, generate one restrained version, inspect the face and text, compare at the final output size, and stop if the result introduces obvious identity or structural changes.
Remaker AI compared with alternatives
Remaker is strongest when you want a fast browser workflow without installing desktop software or managing a local GPU. It is a weaker fit when you need frame-by-frame control, advanced stabilization, frame interpolation, HDR conversion, batch processing with predictable per-file costs, local-only processing, or a guaranteed production deadline. Those needs point toward more specialized tools.

For Adobe users, Lightroom’s Enhance Details documentation covers Super Resolution, Raw Details, and Denoise. Adobe also offers Generative Upscale with 2× and 4× options; Adobe says it is powered by Topaz and may use generative credits, so check the requirements for your plan.
Topaz Photo is aimed at users who want dedicated image controls, while Topaz Video targets deeper video workflows. Before choosing any tool, test the same representative source and compare not just sharpness, but also color, identity, text accuracy, temporal stability, cost, and privacy.

Final recommendation
Use Remaker AI when convenience matters: upload a photo or short existing clip, select a focused enhancement mode, generate a result in the browser, and download it without installing a desktop editor. It is particularly useful for casual social posts, family-photo experiments, quick marketing assets, and early tests of a reference image.
Use more caution for color-critical artwork, identity-sensitive faces, important documents, archival material, confidential media, evidentiary work, or high-volume professional production. In those situations, keep the original, verify the output manually, disclose AI processing where appropriate, and consider a local or more controllable alternative.
