Indonesia’s official logo for its 79th Independence Day was created for the commemoration on 17 August 2024. Its theme was “Nusantara Baru Indonesia Maju,” and the Presidential Secretariat explained the intertwined “79” design through seven concepts, including unity, sustainability and equality.
What was the 17 August 2024 logo?
It was the official visual identity for Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day. The government launched the logo and the theme “Nusantara Baru Indonesia Maju” on 24 June 2024. The selected design was by Inggrid Wenas; the process involved the Ministry of State Secretariat, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, and the Indonesian Graphic Designers Association (ADGI). The Ministry of State Secretariat’s launch announcement names the designer and theme.

What does the 79 design mean?
The Presidential Secretariat’s official explanation associates the numeral 79 with seven concepts. These are the government’s stated meanings, rather than interpretations inferred from the artwork:
- The archipelagic state
- The state emblem
- Economic growth
- Sustainability
- Green economy
- Unity and hope
- Equality
The Presidential Secretariat’s launch statement attributes this explanation to the official presentation of the logo.

Why was the theme “Nusantara Baru Indonesia Maju” chosen?
At the launch, Presidential Secretariat head and anniversary committee chair Heru Budi Hartono said the theme represented a transition: not only the move of the national capital, but also the next leadership transition for the nation and state. The theme therefore connected the 2024 commemoration with changes underway, rather than naming a separate design style or logo variant.
On the day of the anniversary, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources also linked the theme with Nusantara and the Indonesia Emas 2045 aspiration. Its 17 August 2024 account records that context.
