Choose a self-guided, docent-led, or behind-the-scenes visit
Self-guided exhibit viewing
You can view the curated exhibitions independently and use the exhibit labels to guide your visit. This option lets you explore during the museum’s opening hours without arranging a tour.
Public docent-guided tours
Docent-guided tours of selected exhibits are included with admission and are listed Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to noon. The museum does not offer public docent tours in January or February. During those months, visitors may call to request a date and time, subject to staff availability. Check the tour information for current arrangements.
Behind-the-scenes group tours
The museum accepts requests for behind-the-scenes tours for groups of at least four people. The listed rate is $30 per person, with a $120 minimum charge. The museum prefers requests at least one week in advance. Contact the museum to confirm your date and arrangements; its visitor page also accepts inquiries about group, student or class, and bus visits.
What you may see at the museum
The museum says its quilts and quilt-related objects represent 69 countries and date from the 1600s to today. It describes the collection as the world’s largest collection of publicly owned quilts. Its stated mission is “to build a global collection and audience that celebrates the cultural and artistic significance of quilts.” Read more about the holdings on the museum’s Collections page.
