The Evolution Hoop-Frame suits quilters who want a repositionable hoop setup, limited initial commitment, or a possible path to a rolling frame later. The Evolution Elite is the dedicated rolling-frame choice, offered in 8-, 10-, and 12-foot lengths for people with room to leave a larger setup in place. Your machine’s exact fit and the space needed to work around the frame matter as much as the quilt size.

How the two Evolution frames differ
| Decision | Evolution Hoop-Frame | Evolution Elite Rolling Frame |
|---|---|---|
| Loading style | Hoop-style quilting: reposition the fabric as you work. An optional handwheel creates a 5-foot rolling setup. (The Grace Company) | Dedicated rolling frame with rails for loading and advancing a quilt. (The Grace Company) |
| Quilt capacity | Grace says quilts of any size can be handled by repositioning the fabric; the optional rolling configuration is 5 feet. | Available in 8-, 10-, and 12-foot lengths, with approximate quiltable widths of 78, 102, and 126 inches, respectively. |
| Machine fit | Grace states a maximum of 21 inches of machine throat space. This is not a fit guarantee for every machine, carriage, or control arrangement. | Check the manual for the specific frame length and machine/carriage configuration. Grace lists approximate quiltable depth as machine throat length minus 4 inches. |
| Expansion | Grace describes an upgrade path to an Evolution Elite rolling-frame configuration; confirm the required kit, cost, and compatibility. | Choose the intended rolling-frame length up front, or investigate whether the Hoop-Frame conversion path suits your setup. |
| Included items | Grace lists cloth leaders, bungee clamps, and table inserts. | Grace also lists cloth leaders, bungee clamps, and table inserts. Verify the exact bundle being sold. |
Which Evolution frame is right for you?
Choose the Hoop-Frame for repositioning or staged expansion
The Hoop-Frame is not limited to a small fixed quilt dimension: Grace describes managing quilts of any size by repositioning the fabric. That workflow may suit someone who wants to quilt without committing immediately to a long rolling frame. If you later want rolling rails, Grace describes conversion to an Elite configuration; check the current upgrade hardware and total cost before treating that as a savings plan.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIts optional handwheel changes the setup into a 5-foot rolling frame. That offers a distinct intermediate configuration, but it should not be confused with the Elite’s 8-, 10-, or 12-foot lengths.

- Powerful, Precision Quilting – Large 21” throat space, high-speed stitching up to 2,600 SPM, and smooth stitch regulation give you professional-quality results every time.

Choose the Elite for a dedicated rolling workflow
If you prefer loading a quilt onto rails and advancing it across the frame, the Elite is the direct option. Pick its length according to the actual quilting width you need, not just the frame’s nominal length: Grace’s approximate usable widths are smaller than the 8-, 10-, and 12-foot labels.
Leah Day’s comparison characterizes the Evolution as a larger, more permanent setup than the collapsible Cutie, while noting faster loading and expansion as advantages. Those are her workflow assessments, not results from a comparative performance test.

Grace gives approximate quiltable depth as machine throat length minus 4 inches. The frame length and usable width describe different dimensions: leave room for the full frame as well as access to load, advance, and work around the quilt.

- Quilting is now easier than ever! Glide your sewing machine over your quilt to create beautiful patterns. The Cutie frame fits on almost any desk or table and can easily be stored when not in use.
- The Cutie Breeze can be used with almost any sewing machine with an 8" throat space. You can even put up to a 19" long arm on your Cutie Breeze, so you can start with the machine you are already familiar with and upgrade when you are ready.
- The free motion capabilities the Cutie has will make your sewing machine into a quilting machine. Complete quilts faster and create endless designs on all your quilts with the Cutie.
- Will your machine work on the Cutie Breeze? Does your machine have at least 8" of throat space? Can your machine disengage its feed dogs? Is your machine less than 11.5" wide? If you answered yes to all these questions then your machine will work on the Cutie!
- Included with your Cutie Breeze: Cutie Breeze Frame, Cutie Breeze carriage, Cutie Breeze machine top plate with handles, two front rail clips, two side rail clips, and three back rail clips.
Will your quilting machine fit?
For the Hoop-Frame, Grace states support for machines with up to 21 inches of throat space. That ceiling alone does not establish that a particular machine will work with a particular carriage, adapter, or control setup. The Grace catalog describes its frames broadly as accommodating many home machines and longarms up to 21 inches, but broad catalog language is not a substitute for checking your exact model. (Grace machine-quilting frames)
Leah Day notes that larger home machines on the Evolution should have at least an 8-inch harp and 5.5 inches of height to accommodate the back clamps, and that certain sit-down longarms may need pedal speed control. These are her practical fit notes, not Grace’s official specifications. Confirm your machine, carriage, and control arrangement with Grace or an authorized dealer.

- 19 inches of throat space lets you quilt bigger, more intricate quilt blocks and finish quilts faster.
- 7" full-color display provides a variety of highly accessible tools and options at your fingertips, including on-screen help guides and instructions.
Grace provides downloadable instructions and reference materials on the product pages. The Elite has separate instructions for its 8-, 10-, and 12-foot versions, so consult the manual for the exact configuration under consideration before purchase or assembly.
How much room does an Evolution frame take?
Plan for more than the frame’s listed length. Measure the room where it will stay, including clearance to stand and move, access to load the quilt, and space to advance fabric and reach the working area. The Elite’s 8-, 10-, or 12-foot length makes the footprint commitment explicit. For the Hoop-Frame, do not assume a hoop-style setup means it will fold away: Leah Day describes the Evolution as larger and intended to remain set up rather than collapse away.

Compare the complete cost, not just the frame
Prices vary by retailer, country, selected length, bundle, and promotion, so a page price or older MSRP is not a dependable lasting comparison. Build a total for the frame and any machine or carriage you still need, then add required conversion hardware, delivery, and accessories that are not in the chosen bundle. Grace’s pages list some included items, but confirm what the specific seller’s package contains.
Before you buy
- Measure the room and working clearances, not only the quilting area.
- Identify your exact machine model, throat space, carriage, and control setup; verify compatibility with the chosen frame.
- For an Elite, compare the approximate usable width with the quilts you plan to load and check its model-specific manual.
- For a Hoop-Frame-to-Elite upgrade, confirm the kit, price, and machine compatibility before relying on that path.
- Check the current bundle contents and total delivered cost with the seller.
