If you’re making decorative Halloween tombstones, Krylon’s Coarse Stone Textured Finish is the Krylon product to investigate for a stone-like surface. Krylon lists craft foam among its approved surfaces for this specific finish. That does not establish compatibility with every foam type, so check the product label and test a small area first. “Krylon Tombstones” is not an identified Krylon product or official project name; this article addresses using Krylon paint for homemade tombstone props.
Which Krylon paint gives a tombstone a stone look?
Krylon Coarse Stone Textured Finish is the closest documented match: the manufacturer says it creates a stone-textured look. Listed colors include Black Granite, Charcoal Sand, White Onyx, Obsidian, and Travertine Tan. Black Granite or Charcoal Sand are options for a darker prop, but the choice is aesthetic rather than a performance recommendation.
A Lowe’s customer review on its listing for Krylon Travertine Tan textured spray says the reviewer used it to make homemade Halloween tombstones. That is an individual anecdote, not a product test or a guarantee that the finish will work on every design or material. See the Lowe’s product listing.

Can you use Krylon spray paint on foam tombstones?
Krylon lists craft foam as a surface for Coarse Stone Textured Finish, alongside wood, metal, plastic, paper, wicker, glass, ceramic, papier-mâché, and plaster. The listing does not specify every foam formulation, and it should not be taken as approval for all Krylon aerosol paints. Confirm that your exact product lists your substrate, follow its label, and try a small, inconspicuous test area before painting the whole prop.

Krylon specifies 55–75°F and humidity below 60% for best results with Coarse Stone Textured Finish. These are manufacturer guidelines, not a promise of a particular result on a tombstone or a particular foam.

Allow for both drying milestones
The manufacturer lists 30 minutes to dry to the touch and 6 hours to dry to handle. Touch-dry does not mean ready to handle; use the longer handling time when planning the next step.
Estimate the amount of paint
Krylon lists coverage of 4–6 square feet per 12-ounce can. Treat this as a general product specification rather than a tombstone-specific yield: the area covered on your project may vary with its shape and application. Measure the surfaces you intend to coat and allow for uncertainty rather than assuming one can will cover a particular prop.

How does Krylon Harmony compare?
Krylon Harmony Water-Based Spray Paint is a different option to consider for a non-foam surface when its listed substrate fits the project. Krylon describes it as low-odor, for interior or exterior use in a well-ventilated area, and lists masonry and concrete among its surfaces. The manufacturer does not describe Harmony as a faux-stone finish or establish its compatibility with craft foam.

For a textured faux-stone appearance, Coarse Stone is the more directly relevant product. Harmony’s listed surfaces and low-odor description do not make it an equivalent textured finish.
