The AOK Corral plastic-canvas baby-block pattern uses six stitched faces made from 7-mesh canvas, each 4⅛ inches square (27 holes by 27 holes). You decorate the panels first, join them into a cube with yarn, and place four small jingle bells inside before closing the final face. The pattern page offers three free letter-and-picture designs; its printable version is described as a full alphabet set for nine blocks.
What the AOK Corral pattern includes
The AOK Corral project page, published in May 2004, presents the blocks as a plastic-canvas baby-block or jingle-toy craft. Its free page includes picture patterns for A, B, and C. The page also describes a paid, easy-print version containing the full alphabet and matching letter-sound pictures for nine blocks. Check the page for current download availability and price, which may change.
The page calls the project “a great plastic canvas craft project to make for your baby or toddler.” That is the publisher’s description, not evidence that the finished blocks have been safety-tested.

Materials and panel size
- Plastic canvas: 7-mesh canvas. The recommended face is a 4⅛-inch square measuring 27 holes by 27 holes. Pre-cut squares are suggested; larger sheets can be cut to that size. Match the dimensions to this pattern rather than assuming they apply to other block patterns.
- Yarn: Several colors for the designs and seams.
- Needle: A non-sharp yarn needle that fits through the canvas mesh.
- Scissors.
- Jingle bells: Four ½-inch Christmas-type bells per block, placed inside during assembly.
These quantities and dimensions come from the AOK Corral instructions. The pattern does not call for stuffing.
How to assemble the six faces
- Cut six panels. Prepare six 4⅛-inch, 27-by-27-hole squares of 7-mesh canvas for each block.
- Stitch the designs. Decorate the panels before joining them, following the pattern’s picture and letter charts.
- Join matching faces. Align the holes and use yarn to stitch the designated matching panels together.
- Build the cube. Connect the joined pairs as directed so the stitched faces form the block’s sides.
- Add the bells and close the block. Put four ½-inch bells inside, then stitch the final side closed.
Follow the AOK Corral page’s panel matching and joining sequence for the specific chart you are making; the steps above describe its construction order, not a substitute seam chart.

Is this pattern suitable for an infant toy?
The pattern places bells inside the block, but the AOK Corral page does not document toy-safety testing. A separate 2026 how-to article advises treating plastic-canvas blocks with embellishments or small details as decorative display pieces rather than infant toys. That is secondary craft guidance, not a formal safety standard or an independent test of this pattern.
Unless the finished item has been independently assessed for its intended age group and use, the cautious choice is to make it for nursery decor or as a keepsake, not to promise that it is safe for an infant to handle or mouth.
