For Luke 21:5–19 clip art, start with the reproducible coloring-page resource from Church Publishing if you need a bulletin insert, coloring page, or poster. For a passage-specific comic-style illustration, Bible Art has an exact-match page, but limits use to personal, non-commercial purposes. Choose artwork to fit the passage’s full movement—from the Temple prediction to testimony and endurance—not just its scenes of disaster.

What Luke 21:5–19 depicts

The passage opens as people admire the Temple’s adornment. Jesus predicts its destruction, warns against people claiming authority or announcing that the time is near, and tells his listeners not to panic at reports of wars and upheaval. He describes conflict between nations, earthquakes, famine, pestilence, and signs from heaven, then turns to disciples facing arrest, persecution, testimony, betrayal, and hatred. It closes with a call to endure.

That sequence gives artists several possible subjects. A Temple scene is the opening visual anchor, but an image of someone testifying before authorities—or a community supporting someone under pressure—can reflect the later verses. These are interpretations of the text, not claims that a particular image is historically exact. The passage cautions against panic and against treating upheaval as proof that the end immediately follows, so a visual aid need not reduce the reading to disaster imagery.

Resource What it offers Reuse information
Bible Art: “luke 21:5-19” An exact-match page with comic-book-style art. Personal, non-commercial use only; link back when sharing. The page says other rights may apply.
Church Publishing, Drawn to the Gospels, Year C A PDF listing Luke 21:5–19 on page 151, presented as reproducible downloads for bulletin covers, coloring inserts, or posters. Consult the publisher’s terms for your intended reuse. “Reproducible” does not establish unrestricted commercial use.

If you are preparing an activity for children, a Bible coloring book for children may also be useful. Check the specific listing to confirm its audience and whether it actually includes Luke 21:5–19; a general Bible coloring book should not be assumed to contain this passage.

Historical Bible art as a related visual reference

The Pitts Digital Image Archive at Emory catalogs a historical engraving titled “Destruction of the Temple.” Its scripture reference is Matthew 24, not Luke 21:5–19, so treat it as a related visual parallel rather than an image specifically indexed to Luke’s passage. The archive labels its online edition public domain / No Copyright–United States, while also saying it makes no representation about copyright or other legal status.

The Public Domain Bible Art collection describes its historical images as scanned from print sources and says the works were originally published before 1931 and are public domain in the United States based on its documentation. The collection page, updated August 31, 2026, describes an inventory of “Over 1,000 free Bible images.” It also notes that some scans were edited or colorized. Check the particular image and any edit, as well as the rules in the jurisdiction and context where you plan to use it.

How to choose artwork for a lesson or bulletin

  1. Decide what the visual needs to do. Choose a coloring insert, bulletin cover, poster, or illustration before selecting an image.
  2. Match the image to the passage. Select a Temple scene for the opening prediction, a teaching scene for Jesus’ warnings, or a witness/community scene for the later focus on testimony and endurance.
  3. Check the format and source terms. Confirm that the resource works for your intended medium and that its stated reuse rules cover your purpose. A source’s permission to reproduce a resource does not by itself establish unrestricted commercial rights.
  4. Credit or link where requested. Bible Art asks users to link back when sharing; check each resource’s own terms rather than assuming one source’s rules apply to another.
  5. Name the Bible translation if you quote the passage. Bible Art’s page presents King James Version wording, including “In your patience possess ye your souls.” Other translations phrase verse 19 differently, so do not attach a different translation label to that wording.
