The Nike Air Max 1000 is a 3D-printed reinterpretation of the Air Max 1, made with Zellerfeld and designed as a striking, sculptural expression of Nike Air. Nike’s launch materials describe integrated Nike Air alongside the printed construction, but published product copy is not proof of comfort, durability, or athletic performance.
What is the Nike Air Max 1000?
Nike introduced the Air Max 1000 in November 2024 as a new silhouette that reimagines the Air Max 1 through digital design and 3D-printed construction. Nike identifies Zellerfeld as its manufacturing partner. The result is a visually unusual sneaker that can reasonably be described as wearable sculpture, rather than as a conventional Air Max 1 remake. Nike’s announcement attributes the design direction to creative collaboration and advanced digital tools.

Nike chief innovation officer John Hoke described the project this way: “As an innovator, what’s most exciting to me about the Air Max 1000 are the new solutions we can achieve with next-level manufacturing”. That is Hoke’s view of the manufacturing opportunity, not independent evidence of how the shoe performs.
How are the design and construction different?
3D-printed form
The Air Max 1000 uses a printed construction rather than simply reproducing the familiar Air Max 1 upper and sole in standard sneaker materials. Nike presents it as a new expression of its Air technology, and its SNKRS product description says the design combines 3D-printed construction with integrated Nike Air.

Material claims
Zellerfeld’s product listing identifies Zellerfoam and describes the shoe as breathable, reusable, and washable. Those are the manufacturer’s claims; the available product information does not establish an independent assessment of material performance, sustainability, or lifecycle impact. No independent wear testing is established here for comfort, durability, or suitability for sport.
Can you buy the Nike Air Max 1000?
Release access has varied by colorway and date. Nike first said attendees at ComplexCon in November 2024 could win an event-exclusive pair. A later Nike SNKRS release offered the “Oat” colorway through a 10-minute draw for SNKRS members in North America on August 19 at 10 a.m. PST. That draw is historical, not a current buying opportunity. Nike’s page said the “Black” model was available through Zellerfeld at the time of that release.

The Zellerfeld product page showed a $179 price and sold-out status when reviewed for this article. Prices and inventory can change, so treat that as a page snapshot, not confirmation of current stock. Check Nike and Zellerfeld’s live listings for an active release, colorway, seller, and price.
Limited releases and announced customization
Nike announced on May 28, 2026 that the Air Max 1000 would be introduced as a Nike By You offering later in 2026. The announcement gives no exact launch date or configuration details. A planned customization option is not the same as a live product listing; confirm that Nike has opened the offering before expecting to select or buy a customized pair. Nike’s Air Works announcement provides the available timing information.

What size should you choose?
Use the guidance on the exact colorway and release you are considering. Nike’s SNKRS page for “Oat” said it was offered in whole sizes and recommended going half a size up for buyers between sizes. The Zellerfeld listing reviewed described US men’s full sizes 5 through 15 as true to fit. These instructions differ, so neither should be treated as a universal fit rule for every Air Max 1000 release.

Whether it is available in a desired size or colorway is a separate, release-specific question; verify the current official listing before making plans to buy.
