Adobe Photoshop has a legitimate seven-day free trial of the full desktop application. You need an Adobe account and billing information to start it, and the trial automatically becomes a paid subscription after seven days unless you cancel first.
Start the Photoshop trial on Adobe’s official website. Before signing up, note the exact date and time the trial begins and set a reminder to cancel if you do not want to continue.

How to start the official Photoshop trial
- Open Adobe’s official Photoshop free-trial page.
- Select Start Free Trial.
- Choose the relevant category: Individuals, Students and teachers, or Teams and businesses.
- Select a plan and billing method. Read whether it is monthly, annual billed monthly, or annual prepaid.
- Create an Adobe account or sign in to an existing one.
- Enter the requested payment and billing information.
- Complete checkout. Adobe says the trial begins at checkout.
- Open the Creative Cloud desktop app, find Photoshop, and select Download.
- Install Photoshop and sign in with the same Adobe ID used to start the trial.
Use Adobe’s own page rather than a third-party download site. Unofficial installers may be outdated, modified, or unsafe, and they will not give you a legitimate Adobe trial.

How to avoid being charged
Think of the offer as seven free days followed by automatic billing—not as a 21-day free trial.
- Day 1: The trial starts when checkout is completed.
- Day 7: The free-trial period ends.
- Day 8: The selected subscription can begin billing if you have not canceled.
Adobe’s trial page also describes an additional 14-day period after billing begins during which a customer may be able to cancel for a full refund. That is a refund window after conversion, not extra free time. The applicable result depends on the plan, purchase channel, and Adobe’s current terms.

- Sign in at account.adobe.com.
- Find the Photoshop or Creative Cloud plan.
- Select Manage plans.
- Select Cancel plan.
- Choose a reason and continue through the confirmation screens.
- Save the confirmation email or take a screenshot.
Canceling early is safer than waiting until the final hours. Adobe’s account timestamp and checkout terms control, so allow for time-zone differences and account-processing delays.
What if the trial has already converted?
Cancel immediately and check your billing history. Adobe’s subscription terms generally provide a full-refund window for many direct purchases when canceled within 14 days of the initial purchase, but the details vary.

For the exact outcome, check your Adobe plan page and Adobe’s current subscription terms. If the purchase was made through an app store, use that store’s account and refund process instead.
What does the trial include?
Adobe presents the trial as access to the full Photoshop application rather than a restricted demonstration. It includes the desktop app and access to Photoshop on the web, iPhone, and iPad under the offer’s applicable terms. Adobe also advertises current features such as Generative Fill and Generative Expand.
That does not mean every platform has identical controls or that AI usage is unlimited forever. Generative features can be subject to plan-specific credit limits once you become a subscriber. Photoshop’s mobile apps can be downloaded free, but premium features require a subscription.

Check Adobe’s current Photoshop technical requirements before starting. Requirements change by major version; for Photoshop 27.x and later, Adobe lists these important points:

Annual billed monthly is not the same as month-to-month. It can involve an annual commitment and may carry a cancellation fee after the initial refund period. Introductory prices may be limited to new subscribers and may end after the advertised period.
Which Adobe plan makes sense?
- Choose Photoshop alone if you need Photoshop-specific tools, plug-ins, PSD workflows, or Adobe’s professional ecosystem but not Lightroom or other Creative Cloud apps.
- Compare the Photography plan if you need Photoshop and Lightroom for RAW processing, photo cataloging, and compositing. It may be better value than Photoshop alone for photographers.
- Compare Creative Cloud Pro if you also need applications such as Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, Acrobat, or other Adobe services. It is poor value for someone who will use only Photoshop.

What happens to your files after cancellation?
Canceling an Adobe plan does not necessarily delete your Adobe account. Adobe says individual accounts become Creative Cloud free memberships. You can retain access to files in the Creative Cloud folder and through the Creative Cloud website, but premium applications and services are removed. If your account exceeds the free-storage limit, Adobe says you have 30 days to move excess files.
Before canceling, export or download:
- PSD files and cloud documents
- Linked Smart Objects and other linked assets
- Adobe Fonts-dependent projects
- Custom brushes, presets, actions, and patterns
- Images or project resources stored only in Creative Cloud
Open important files in another application where possible. A PSD may open differently outside Photoshop, especially when it uses adjustment layers, smart filters, linked assets, fonts, or features that another editor does not support.
Troubleshooting common trial problems
The trial is not appearing
Start again from Adobe’s official trial page. If the offer is missing, sign out and retry in a private browser window, check the selected country or region, and confirm that the Adobe account does not already have an active or previous trial. Make sure you selected the desktop Photoshop offer rather than a mobile or web-only promotion.
Photoshop will not install
Check your operating-system version, free disk space, graphics hardware and drivers, Creative Cloud desktop app status, and internet connection. Security software, workplace networks, or firewalls can also block Creative Cloud. Compare your computer with Adobe’s current requirements instead of relying on an old specification list.

I was charged unexpectedly
- Check the Adobe account’s plan and billing history.
- Confirm the trial’s start date and conversion date.
- Cancel immediately if you do not want the subscription.
- Request a refund through Adobe if you are within the applicable refund period.
- Check whether the purchase was made through Apple, Google, Microsoft, or another reseller.
The cancellation button is missing
Possible reasons include an app-store or reseller purchase, a payment currently being processed, a team or enterprise account controlled by an administrator, or signing in with the wrong Adobe ID. Visit Adobe account management and, if necessary, use Adobe’s official support hub. Avoid third-party cancellation services.
Which option should you choose?
Use the Photoshop trial if you need the actual Adobe workflow, Photoshop-specific tutorials, plug-ins, Generative AI tools, or reliable compatibility with a Photoshop-based school, freelance, or agency workflow.
