Pinterest usually does not print a Pin directly. The dependable method is to open the Pin, download the image or follow its original-source link, then print the resulting image, PDF, or article from your device’s Photos, Files, PDF viewer, or browser. Preview the page first so you can correct cropping, sizing, and paper settings.
Before printing, identify what the Pin actually contains
A Pin may be an image, a link to a recipe or article, a creator’s printable PDF, a video, or a collection of several images. Pinterest describes Pins as visual bookmarks, so the picture you see may only be a preview of content hosted elsewhere.

- Single image: Download the image and print it from your photo or file app.
- Recipe or article: Open the destination website and use its Print, Print recipe, or Download PDF option.
- Printable: Use the creator’s PDF or original file whenever possible.
- Video: A video is not normally a printable document. Look for written instructions, a transcript, or a still image.
- Several images or a board: Download the individual files and arrange them in a document or collage before exporting a PDF.
Printing the Pinterest webpage itself usually produces navigation, comments, advertisements, white space, and a lower-quality preview. The original file or source page gives you much better control.
Download an image from Pinterest
Pinterest’s current instructions say that some image Pins can be downloaded to a computer or mobile device. The exact labels can vary by app version, browser, account, and Pin type.

Windows PC or Mac
- Open Pinterest in a browser and open the Pin fully.
- Click the three-dot menu beside the image.
- Choose Download image, if the option is available. See Pinterest’s download instructions.
- Find the file in your browser’s Downloads folder.
- Open it in Photos, Preview, or another image application and use that app’s Print command. Windows commonly uses Ctrl+P; macOS commonly uses Command-P.
iPhone or iPad
- Open the Pin in the Pinterest app.
- Tap the three-dot menu beneath or beside the Pin.
- Tap Download image, if shown. Pinterest says it is saved to Photos.
- Open Photos, tap Share, then choose Print.
- Select an AirPrint printer, copies, paper, orientation, and scaling; inspect the preview and tap Print.
If Print is missing from the Share sheet, scroll through the actions or use Edit Actions when offered. You can also save the image to Files, send it to a computer, or upload it to a print service.
Android phone or tablet
- Open the Pin and tap its three-dot menu.
- Tap Download image, if available. The file is generally saved to Gallery.
- Open it in Gallery, Google Photos, Files, or another viewer.
- Tap Share, More, or the three-dot menu, then choose Print.
- Select a printer or Print to PDF, set paper and scaling, preview, and print.
If no printer appears, put the phone and printer on the same Wi-Fi network, confirm the printer is online, enable Android’s printing service, and install the manufacturer’s app if required.

- Open the Pin in its full close-up view; the feed menu may not show every action.
- Try the three-dot menu beside the image.
- Follow the Pin’s destination link and search for Download, Printable, Print recipe, Free PDF, Original image, or Shop.
- Use the creator’s source page rather than an unofficial Pinterest downloader. Such sites can return a thumbnail, create security and privacy risks, or violate the creator’s rights.
- If the source is unavailable, ask the creator or copyright owner for a printable or high-resolution copy.
You can save a Pin to a board for reference, but saving and downloading are separate actions; saving does not give you a local file or ownership rights. Pinterest explains saving separately in its board-saving help. A screenshot is only a last-resort reference and is usually inferior to the original.

Print a Pinterest recipe or article
Open the destination website instead of printing the Pinterest card. Look for the site’s own Print, Print recipe, or Download PDF control. These layouts normally remove social-media elements and include the complete ingredients, instructions, or article.
If there is no print button, use the browser’s print command. Reader or simplified view can remove clutter where available. Saving the result as a PDF first lets you check page breaks, missing text, and images before using paper.
Print a board or several Pins
Pinterest documents downloading individual image Pins and saving Pins to boards, but it does not establish a dependable one-click board-printing workflow. Download each usable image, then place them in Word, Google Docs, Pages, PowerPoint, Canva, or another layout tool. Set the final page size, add margins or captions, export the layout as a PDF, and print the PDF. This is safer and sharper than taking a screenshot of a scrolling board, which can omit unloaded images and reduce resolution.

Choose print settings that match the image
- Paper size: Letter is common in the United States; A4 is common in many other countries.
- Orientation: Use portrait for most vertical Pins, recipes, worksheets, and posters; use landscape for wide images.
- Fit or scale to fit: Keeps the complete image visible but may leave white margins.
- Fill page: Covers more of the sheet but can crop the edges.
- Actual size or 100%: Preserves defined dimensions when the file was designed for a specific size.
- Borderless: Enables edge-to-edge output only when both the printer and paper support it.
- Color and quality: Use color for artwork and photos; choose normal or high quality for important images rather than draft mode.
- Paper type: Match the setting to plain paper, matte photo paper, glossy photo paper, or cardstock.
Compare the preview with the physical paper ratio. A square image on Letter paper will have white space unless you crop it; filling the page will remove part of the image. Preserve the image’s proportions—resizing width and height independently causes distortion. For posters or artwork, place the image in a document at the exact final size and add an intentional border if needed.
Why a Pinterest print looks blurry
An image that looks sharp on a phone may be too small for a large print. Prefer the creator’s original image or PDF, print a small file at a small physical size, and take a print provider’s low-resolution warning seriously. Changing DPI metadata does not create missing detail.
FedEx Office recommends a high-resolution file sized to the final dimensions and describes 300 DPI as appropriate for most prints (its printing FAQ). A practical estimate is:

Required pixels ≈ final width in inches × target DPI, and final height in inches × target DPI.
- 4 × 6 inches at 300 DPI: about 1,200 × 1,800 pixels.
- 8 × 10 inches: about 2,400 × 3,000 pixels.
- 8.5 × 11 inches: about 2,550 × 3,300 pixels.
These are targets, not guarantees. Compression, text size, sharpness, color, paper, and printer quality also affect the result.
Common problems and fixes

Home printer or print service?

FedEx Office supports documents, posters, cards, and other products, but says it no longer offers everyday 4×6 or 5×7 photo printing. Walgreens Photo offers prints, posters, canvas, and related products; check its current builder for availability and pricing. Staples is generally suited to uploaded PDFs and office documents. Availability, prices, pickup, and size limits vary by location and product.

Is it legal to print an image from Pinterest?
Pinterest is not a copyright license. A Pin may be a repost or a link to someone else’s work, and downloading it does not transfer ownership. The safest choices are your own images, creator-provided printables, purchased licensed files, written permission, or material clearly marked public domain or Creative Commons (following its terms).
In the United States, fair use is case-specific. The U.S. Copyright Office considers factors including the purpose of the use, the nature of the work, the amount used, and the effect on the original’s market; there is no automatic “personal-use” number of copies or percentage. See the Copyright Office fair-use explanation and its FAQ. Selling a print, distributing copies, framing work for a business, or making many copies carries more risk than keeping a private reference copy. Print providers can also refuse files; FedEx Office’s terms prohibit material that infringes intellectual-property rights.
