For a Father’s Day card “from the cat,” start with Cats Protection’s free cat-dad designs or HP Printables’ illustrated card. If you want to edit the wording or layout, Canva offers customizable templates. Before printing, check the chosen file’s paper size, fold and cut directions, envelope guidance, and usage terms; printable cards do not all share the same format.

HP Printables lists Katie Mai’s “Fathers Day Card,” which features a cat illustration and a blank inside for a personal message. Its listing says the design is intended for home printing on Letter or A4 paper and fits standard envelopes. HP also describes its catalog as containing “2,500+ free printables”; that is HP’s own current-page catalog claim, not an independently verified count.
Canva: customizable options
Canva’s general Father’s Day template page offers customizable designs, with downloads and optional paid printing. Its cat-card page includes cat designs and a Father’s Day example, but not every cat design there is specifically a Father’s Day card. Check the design itself before customizing or downloading.

Paid downloadable files
Digital-download listings from Bright Color Mom Shop and Etsy are examples of paid options. Their descriptions cover home-printable files and paper guidance, but they do not establish typical market prices or a consistent quality level. Review the individual listing for file format, dimensions, delivery details, and terms.

A cute illustration is only part of the decision. Check what you will actually download and how it is meant to become a card.

Print and fold the card to its own instructions
- Choose the design and inspect its file details. Confirm whether it downloads as a PDF or image, whether it is a one-sided or folded card, and whether instructions or cut-and-fold marks are included.
- Set the paper size and orientation the template specifies. The cited examples include Letter and A4 layouts. One Etsy listing specifies US Letter stock that folds to a 7-by-5-inch card. Do not assume that choosing “fit to page” will preserve the intended finished dimensions.
- Check the envelope before printing. HP’s listing says its card fits standard envelopes. The cited Etsy listing says its envelope is not included and points to an A7 envelope for its 5-by-7-inch finished card. Follow the chosen design’s guidance rather than relying on a universal envelope size.
- Choose paper your printer supports. The cited listings recommend cardstock or thicker paper for sturdiness or print quality. One seller also says plain copy paper is usable. These are listing-specific recommendations, not a universal paper-weight requirement; check your printer’s paper compatibility.
- Print a page and follow the design’s fold or cut marks. If the file includes marks, use them to guide assembly. Check the finished size and how the card sits before writing inside.
- Read the file’s usage terms. The cited Etsy listing specifies personal use. Terms can differ by publisher and file, so check the particular download before sharing or using it for anything beyond personal purposes.
Add a message that sounds like it came from the cat
A blank interior gives you room to make the card personal. Keep it short and match the illustration’s tone: affectionate for a sweet design, or playful if the card jokes about cat duties. For example, you could write, “Happy Father’s Day to my favorite human. Thanks for the treats and the warm lap.”
