AllPeopleQuilt’s “Quick-Change Purse” is a sewing pattern for a fabric bag with a separately sewn, removable clear-vinyl liner. Designed by Missie Carpenter and published February 6, 2014, the finished bag measures 7 1/2 × 11 × 4 1/4 inches. The pattern specifies a strap, magnetic snap closure and boxed bottom—not an expandable or reversible exterior.

What the Quick-Change Purse pattern makes
The project combines a printed-fabric bag body with synthetic-leather side panels and strap. A separate liner is sewn from clear heavyweight vinyl and inserted into the bag, so the removable part is the contents pouch. The publisher’s description, credited to American Patchwork & Quilting Editors, calls it “A smart bag with a removable contents pouch makes switching bags as simple as changing outfits.”

The pattern’s yardage and cutting directions assume 42 inches of usable fabric width. Measurements include 1/4-inch seam allowances. If you are buying clear heavyweight vinyl, match the pattern’s material description and check the current product details; the source does not specify a brand or particular listing.
How the construction works
- Join the outer fabric pieces with the synthetic-leather strips to form the bag body.
- Box the corners to shape the flat base.
- Apply fusible interfacing to the fabric lining.
- Join the outer body and lining around the top, leaving an opening in the lining seam. Turn the assembly through that opening.
- Attach the brad rings and folded synthetic-leather strap, then install the two halves of the magnetic snap.
- Sew the two specified vinyl rectangles into the separate liner and insert it into the bag.

What “quick-change” means here—and what it does not
In this pattern, quick changing refers to removing the contents pouch to switch bags. It does not describe a purse whose exterior expands, contracts or reverses. A separate 2009 patent application uses the similar name “Quick Change Purse” for an expandable and contractible interchangeable handbag-lining system; that is a different design, not a feature of the AllPeopleQuilt project. Use the stated finished dimensions and supply list to decide whether the project suits your needs. The instructions call for clear heavyweight vinyl, synthetic leather, brad rings, and a magnetic snap, as well as fabric and interfacing. Consider whether those materials are available to you and whether you are comfortable sewing vinyl and installing bag hardware. The source describes this project but does not compare tested substitutions or alternatives.
