Roberto Pierucci was the executive designer behind the Perth fashion label bearing his name when PerthNow/STM profiled him in September 2008. The story linked a Ben Cousins suit campaign to the label’s 25-year history, its family tailoring roots and its collections. Its store list and expansion plans are historical, not a guide to where Pierucci clothing can be bought today.
Who was Roberto Pierucci?
In Fleur Bainger’s 4 September 2008 PerthNow/STM profile, Roberto Pierucci is presented as the executive designer leading a Perth fashion label named for him. The article said the label had been in the marketplace for 25 years and was celebrating its silver jubilee during that month’s Perth Fashion Festival. It also reported that a team of six designers worked under his direction; that is a 2008 staffing figure, not a current one.
The label’s family story began with Pierucci’s father, Tullio, an Italian tailor who migrated to Australia and opened a store on Beaufort Street. The profile recounts Tullio’s wartime experiences through Roberto’s recollections, as relayed by the article—not as an independently documented account.

What did Ben Cousins model?
The 2008 profile says footballer Ben Cousins modelled a slim-fit, three-piece Pierucci suit. It connected the campaign images, published in STM, with a sharp reported rise in sales: the article said suit sales increased by 215% in Western Australia and 100% in other states during the following week. Those are figures reported by the 2008 article, not independently verified figures.

Roberto Pierucci described the response this way: “Our suit sales have gone through the roof,” he said of the Cousins campaign. He also saw the campaign as a moment of renewal: “You could almost say there is a very positive sense of reinvention for both of us which shines through in this campaign,” he said. The quotations are from the 2008 profile, not a new interview.
What did the label make in 2008?
The profile discussed separate menswear and womenswear collections, with seasonal descriptions and predictions tied to 2008. It described Pierucci’s son Chris as bringing a new dimension to the menswear work, and daughter Carla as designing womenswear and developing overseas contacts. Those are the family members’ roles as reported at the time; the article does not establish their present work.

Pierucci framed his standard for the product personally: “If I don’t feel proud of the product, I don’t want to be involved,” he said. The article also quoted him on retirement: “I’d do it tomorrow if I could. But the business has been growing a bit and there’s still a few things to do.” Both remarks belong to the context of the 2008 profile.
What happened to Pierucci in Perth?
The 2008 article listed stores in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Auckland, and described overseas expansion as an ambition. Those locations and plans should not be read as current. In January 2012, a later PerthNow article reported that Pierucci planned to close the Perth shop at the end of that month, and described Melbourne as the remaining family store at the time. Pierucci was quoted then saying: “Once it’s gone, it’s gone, no more Pierucci in Perth.”

An Australian Business Register snapshot dated 30 April 2026 lists The Trustee for THE PIERUCCI HOLDINGS TRUST as active from 26 June 2000 and includes business-name dates for PIERUCCI MEN’S OUTFITTER and Providence Clothing Co. That administrative record does not establish that a retail store is operating now, that a particular label or mark is currently owned by the trust, or that any Pierucci garment is currently available to buy.
