There is no official Porsche ranking of Paint to Sample (PTS) colors, and no single shade is best for every car. For a useful shortlist, start with Rubystar, Mintgruen, Maritimeblue, Irishgreen, Vipergreen, Meissenblue and Signalyellow: each offers a distinct heritage or visual direction. Before settling on one, check it on your intended model in Porsche’s Paint to Sample Colour Configurator and confirm current availability with a Porsche Centre.
How to choose a Porsche Paint to Sample color
Choose for the particular car, not just the swatch name. A hue that feels bold on one body shape may read differently on another, and Porsche’s PTS selection varies by model and production site. Market-specific availability can also differ, so a historic color list is not a promise that a shade can be ordered today.

- Heritage: Does the color’s Porsche history matter to you, or are you choosing it for a personal reason?
- Visual character: Do you want a bright focal point, a classic blue, or a less conventional green?

Porsche’s configurator lets you browse by model or color group, visualize a shade on a selected Porsche, and explore its color history before continuing to the market-specific car configurator. Treat the image as a preview: compare options there, then confirm the exact order details with a Porsche Centre.
Seven Porsche PTS colors worth considering
Porsche’s August 2026 guide names all seven as historic shades. The descriptions below are editorial impressions, not Porsche rankings or measured owner preferences. The sources do not establish that every shade is currently orderable on every model.

Rubystar
For a high-impact choice, Rubystar is the vivid heritage candidate in this group. It suits a buyer who wants the car’s color to be a defining part of its presence rather than a discreet finish.
Mintgruen
Mintgruen brings a distinctive, pastel-leaning direction. Consider it if you want something less expected than a conventional neutral while keeping the overall effect lighter than a saturated statement color.
Maritimeblue
Maritimeblue is the classic-blue option here, with an explicit Porsche heritage association. It is a natural starting point if you want a color with a recognizable Porsche story but prefer blue to a brighter or more unusual hue.

Irishgreen
Irishgreen is a heritage-named green for buyers drawn to a less common direction. Compare it with Vipergreen on your intended model rather than assuming the two will make the same impression.
Vipergreen
Vipergreen is another green candidate, suited to shoppers who want the color itself to stand out. The available Porsche material names the shade but does not provide a scored comparison with other greens.
Meissenblue
Meissenblue offers a second blue path for shoppers who want a distinctive alternative to Maritimeblue. Use the model preview to decide which better fits your preferred balance of classic and individual.

Signalyellow
Signalyellow is the shortlist’s most direct choice for a conspicuous color statement. It is worth comparing in the configurator if your priority is visibility and a less restrained look.

Porsche describes standard Paint to Sample as an established catalog of pre-approved colors beyond the standard series palette. Paint to Sample Plus is a separate bespoke route: the customer brings a color sample to a Porsche Centre, and Porsche assesses feasibility and develops the color. It is not simply another name for the standard PTS catalog.
Technical validation is part of the distinction. Boris Apenbrink, Porsche Director of Limited Series and Options at Exclusive Manufaktur, explained in Porsche Newsroom’s 2025 account: “Every shade of color must be deemed suitable for many different surfaces and materials, ultimately requiring a perfect color matching,”

How many PTS colors are available?
Porsche’s guide dated August 2026 says standard production models usually have around 12 series colors, while PTS expands the palette to more than 230 exterior shades across the model range. Porsche reports these model counts in that guide:

These are dated Porsche-reported counts, not a guarantee of the colors currently offered for a specific car, market or production site. Porsche USA’s undated individualization page separately says its US PTS offering includes over 180 iconic colors; that market-page figure has a different scope and date basis from the August 2026 range-wide guide, so the two should not be combined as if they were the same inventory.
How long can a PTS order take?
Porsche Newsroom’s March 2025 account says standard PTS colors add around three months to delivery compared with standard colors. It gives an average of around nine months for Paint to Sample Plus color development, depending on complexity. These are approximate figures from that dated account, not delivery guarantees or current estimates for every order.
Check current availability before choosing
- Open Porsche’s Paint to Sample Colour Configurator.
- Select your model and browse the colors shown for it; do not assume a shade listed for another model is orderable for yours.
- Preview your finalists on the intended car and compare the available color histories.
- Continue to the market-specific Porsche Car Configurator, then ask a Porsche Centre to confirm the exact color, availability, order details and timing for your market.
Porsche’s 2025 account describes the standard PTS palette as pre-defined and technically approved, but current option pricing is not established by the cited program information. Ask the dealer for the price applicable to your market and order rather than relying on a universal figure.
