Landing brought its flexible Creation canvas from the web to iOS in August 2023, replacing the app’s earlier five-image grid with a more open-ended collage editor. Users could resize, move, and layer images, change backgrounds, and add text, shapes, and icons; mobile uploads and shoppable links were initially unavailable. Landing later announced full collage creation in its Android app, then announced that its web and mobile apps would close on September 18, 2024. The company also announced plans for a new platform called ZEEN, but the available evidence does not establish whether it launched or is available today.
What Landing was
Landing was a platform for creating and sharing virtual mood boards and collages. TechCrunch’s August 2023 report described it as a social visual product as well as a creation tool, with a community image library and boards users could publish. The report said the company had more than 275,000 users and a library of more than 4.5 million images at that time; these were launch-era figures, not current counts.
What changed when Creation came to mobile
TechCrunch reported that Creation had previously been available only on Landing’s web app. Landing’s iOS app, launched in March 2023 according to the report, had made simple grids of five images and offered a shuffle button rather than direct repositioning or rotation. The August 2023 update brought a more flexible canvas to iOS.
Recommended Free Tools
- Resize images by pinching.
- Move images and other items around the canvas.
- Layer items to make overlapping arrangements.
- Change the canvas background.
- Add text, shapes, and icons.
- Add as many images as desired, rather than being limited to the former five-image grid.
These were the reported capabilities of the launch-era editor, not a guarantee of unlimited storage or technical capacity. TechCrunch characterized the mobile version as “basic tooling” compared with the full web functionality.

Mobile and web Creation compared at launch
| Capability | Initial iOS Creation | Web Creation |
|---|---|---|
| Flexible canvas | Freeform arrangement, resizing, and layering | Available |
| Text, shapes, and icons | Available | Available |
| Upload personal images | Not available in the app | Users could add images through web |
| Add shoppable links | Not available in the initial mobile release | Available |
| Draft and finish work across platforms | Users could save drafts | Users could return to web to add shoppable links |
Landing said users could add images through the web app, use them on mobile, save drafts, and later add shoppable links on web. So the update made phone-based composition more flexible without providing full feature parity.
Did Landing add Creation to Android?
Not at the August 2023 launch. TechCrunch reported that Landing planned to test Creation on iOS before rolling it out to Android. In a later company post, Landing announced that users could make full collages in its Android app and described the app as still in beta.

What happened to Landing after the mobile launch?
In September 2024, Landing announced that its web and mobile apps would close on September 18, 2024, and urged users to save their content during the remaining week. Its closure post said that the 11-person founding team planned to launch a new platform called ZEEN in early October. That announcement supports the existence of the plan, but does not establish whether ZEEN subsequently launched or its present-day status.
Near the closure, Landing team member Chris Houdlette reported company figures of more than 1.2 million Gen Z users across more than 190 countries, 900,000 iOS and Android app downloads within 1.5 years, 3 million collages created, and more than 11 million assets uploaded. These were self-reported figures, not independently audited data. They differ in date and scope from TechCrunch’s 2023 figures and should not be combined into a growth calculation.
