However, Canon’s current product information says the G620 is no longer available. That makes it an availability-dependent or legacy option rather than the best current recommendation. If you find one, check the seller, warranty, replacement ink availability, and return policy before buying. Do not choose it solely because an older buying guide still calls it the best sticker printer.
Inkjet is the default for printable sticker paper and vinyl
For the materials covered by this guide, choose an inkjet printer unless the media manufacturer explicitly says that its product is made for laser printers. Cricut recommends inkjet printers for printable materials such as printable vinyl and sticker paper.
Laser printers work by applying high heat. Cricut warns that this heat can damage or otherwise be unsuitable for heat-sensitive materials such as printable vinyl unless the material was specifically manufactured for laser use. That is why a laser printer should not be the default recommendation for Cricut Printable Sticker Paper.
“Printable vinyl” also needs careful interpretation. It means vinyl with a printable surface, not ordinary adhesive vinyl designed to be cut from a solid color. A printer can print the artwork, but it cannot automatically cut the outline. Always confirm all three parts of the match:

- Printer: The printer must support the media type, thickness, coating, and sheet size.
- Media: The sticker paper or printable vinyl must be made for inkjet printing—or explicitly approved for your printer technology.
- Cutter: The cutting machine must support the intended material and cutting workflow.
Printing stickers is not the same as cutting stickers
A printer creates the colored sticker sheet. It does not contour-cut individual stickers. If you want kiss-cut sticker sheets or individual die-cut shapes, you need a separate compatible cutting machine.
In Cricut’s Print Then Cut workflow, you send the color design to a compatible home printer. Feed one sheet at a time, as Cricut recommends. This reduces the chance of multiple sheets feeding together or a sheet entering the printer at an angle. Before using an entire pack, test one sheet and inspect:
- Whether the sheet feeds without slipping or jamming.
- Whether the ink dries cleanly without smearing.
- Whether the printer’s selected paper type produces the expected color and saturation.
- Whether the printed registration marks can be read by your cutter.
- Whether the adhesive and liner work with the cutter’s mat and blade settings.
Use the exact paper setting recommended by the media maker or printer manufacturer. A plain-paper setting may deposit too little ink, while a photo-paper setting may deposit more ink than the sticker coating can absorb. Let the printed sheet dry according to the media instructions before cutting or applying a protective layer.
Glossy, reflective, dark, and holographic materials need extra caution
Print Then Cut depends on the cutter reading registration marks. Cricut notes that reflective, glossy, dark, or holographic materials can interfere with sensor scanning, depending on the cutting-machine generation and material.
Do not assume that a newer or older Cricut model will behave identically. Newer supported machines have broader material compatibility than some older Explore models, but the exact result still depends on the surface finish and the machine. If you plan to use glossy or holographic sticker stock, identify your cutter first and check its current material guidance before buying a large pack.
A matte, light-colored starter sheet is generally a less complicated first test than a highly reflective or holographic surface. If registration marks fail, the problem may be the surface reflection rather than the printer or artwork.
Waterproofing and outdoor durability are separate decisions
A vivid print is not automatically a waterproof sticker. Printer color quality and finished-sticker durability are different questions.

The final result’s resistance to water, abrasion, sunlight, and handling depends on the exact printable media, the ink, the drying time, and any protective laminate or coating. Some products may be suitable for indoor labels or packaging but perform poorly on a water bottle, vehicle, window, or outdoor sign.
Before making an outdoor-durability claim, check the sticker-media manufacturer’s stated resistance and limitations. If the product is not explicitly rated for the environment you have in mind, describe it conservatively as suitable for indoor or short-term use rather than calling it waterproof or weatherproof.
