DaVinci Resolve 19’s public beta was announced on April 12, 2024—not released as current software. Blackmagic Design made the beta available for Windows, macOS, and Linux and promoted it as a major update with more than 100 feature upgrades. Resolve 19 later reached stable release in August 2024. As of August 12, 2026, Blackmagic’s current major desktop line is DaVinci Resolve 21, so anyone looking for the latest version should use the current Resolve download rather than treat the Resolve 19 beta as new release news.

Resolve 19 nevertheless matters because it introduced or expanded several workflows that remain important to the product: AI-assisted tracking, text-based editing, multi-source cutting, new color tools, more capable Fusion rotoscoping, Fairlight spatial-audio features, and Blackmagic Cloud improvements.

What Blackmagic announced in the Resolve 19 beta

Blackmagic described Resolve 19 as a major update containing more than 100 upgrades. That number is Blackmagic’s announcement figure, not an independent count. The feature set covered the Edit, Cut, Color, Fusion, Fairlight, and collaboration workflows rather than a single headline change.

The original announcement covered desktop versions for Windows, macOS, and Linux. The current Resolve product line also has an iPad edition, but that should not be back-projected as a platform for the 2024 Resolve 19 beta.

The most significant AI features

IntelliTrack AI point tracking

Resolve 19 added IntelliTrack, a DaVinci Neural Engine-powered point tracker available in the Color, Fusion, and FX trackers in DaVinci Resolve Studio. It can be used for general tracking and stabilization, and it also supplies tracking data for Fairlight’s audio-panning-to-video workflow.

Blackmagic says IntelliTrack was trained on real-world examples rather than relying only on predetermined rules or heuristics. The company presents it as more robust when a tracked subject is briefly obscured. That is a vendor-described capability, not the result of an independent benchmark, so it is more accurate to treat IntelliTrack as an automation aid rather than a guarantee that difficult tracking shots will require no manual correction.

Audio panning that follows video

One of Resolve 19’s more distinctive demonstrations connected visual tracking with Fairlight audio. IntelliTrack can follow an on-screen object, allowing Fairlight to automate audio panning in relation to that object’s movement.

This is useful for situations such as a moving speaker, vehicle, or other subject whose apparent position should influence the stereo or surround image. It does not eliminate the need to check the result: the audio perspective still has to make sense for the scene, the listener’s position, and the intended delivery format.

UltraNR and other Studio AI tools

UltraNR is an AI-assisted spatial noise-reduction feature associated with the Studio edition. Blackmagic’s Studio materials continue to list AI UltraNR among the additional Resolve FX available in Studio.

The wider Studio feature set also includes tools such as facial recognition, Super Scale, Speed Warp, Magic Mask, object isolation and tracking, object removal, scene-cut detection, voice isolation, music remixing, and dialogue separation. Those capabilities help explain the broader Studio context, but they should not all be described as new Resolve 19 beta features. Some were existing or separately documented Studio functions.

Transcription and text-based editing

Resolve 19 expanded the connection between transcription and editing. Editors could use transcribed dialogue to locate words spoken by a particular speaker and use those results to find or edit the corresponding timeline material.

  • 3 x 92mm fans combined into one interface, can be connected to the motherboard's 3-pin or 4-pin interface and you only need to access one interface to run all the fans
  • This cooling fan's total size is 11in(L) x 4.72in(W) x 1.18in(H), designed for most universal graphic card video card VGA cooling, just please check the size to make sure your pc has enough space
  • D-type interface cable included four interfaces, three voltages: 5V, 7V and 12V; different voltages with different airflow, speed and noise. You can select the appropriate voltage interface to start the fan
  • The double ball bearing has a service life of 65,000 hours, and the 7 blades produce strong airflow to keep the computer case cool
  • packing list: 3 x 92mm fans (PCI bracket screwed), 1 x multi-voltage cable ,1 x mini screwdriver,1 x fixing screw

For interviews, podcasts, documentaries, and other dialogue-heavy projects, this changes the first-pass workflow: instead of scrubbing through every clip to find a sentence, an editor can search the transcript and then verify the surrounding picture and audio in the timeline. Text-based tools are part of the Studio feature distinction, so users of the free edition should check the current feature matrix before assuming that a particular transcription or text-editing function is included.

Editing improvements

Multi-source viewing

Resolve 19 introduced a multi-source option for viewing time-synchronized footage. It is aimed at productions with multiple cameras or recording sources, where an editor needs to compare angles and select the best take quickly.

The practical benefit is faster source selection: synchronize the material, view the available angles together, and choose the shot without repeatedly opening and closing individual clips. The feature is most useful when the cameras share reliable timecode or another dependable synchronization method; it cannot correct fundamentally inaccurate sync or inconsistent coverage.

Cut-page and replay-oriented workflows

The release also included workflow changes on the Cut page and features aimed at replay-oriented production. These improvements were relevant to editors working with fast-turnaround events and live-style productions, where selecting, trimming, and replaying material quickly can matter more than a conventional long-form editorial workflow.

They do not turn every Resolve system into a broadcast replay server. Hardware, capture, monitoring, storage, and the specific production configuration still determine what a real-time operation can deliver.

Color tools: ColorSlice and Film Look Creator

ColorSlice

ColorSlice introduced a six-vector grading palette for making targeted color adjustments. Instead of treating the image only as broad shadows, midtones, and highlights, the tool provides a way to work across defined color vectors.

That can make selective color shaping more direct—for example, refining a particular range without applying the same adjustment to every hue. As with any secondary grading tool, the result depends on the footage, the selection, and the delivery color space. It is not a substitute for exposure balancing, color management, or a properly calibrated monitoring workflow.

Film Look Creator

Film Look Creator is designed to simulate characteristics associated with film presentation, including film-stock-style rendering, halation, grain, gate weave, and related image behavior. Blackmagic associates Film Look Creator with the Studio feature set.

  • Double Protection: Asiahorse graphic card cooler is designed with 3 * 80mm fan blade and GPU brace support, can generate strong airflow to support cooling of the graphics card, while provides strong and long-lasting support to protect the motherboard from being damaged by the weight of graphics card.
  • Quickly Cooling: Pwm fan control Function, allows dynamic speed adjustment between 800-3000 RPM, Noise level up to 25 DBA, minimizing noise or maximizing airflow.
  • Swirl Blade Design: The gpu cooling fan adopts swirling fan structure to enhance and direct the airflow, with a maximum air pressure of 50CFM to provide better heat dissipation.
  • Argb Led Frame Design: Built in 13 independent RGB LEDs in every fan, supporting 5V 3PIN ARGB motherboard SYNC, offering a variety of ARGB light effect mode to easily add vivid LED lighting to your system.
  • Convenient Adjustment: Easy installtion, the support arm slides and locks in place to cool the graphics card directly in parallel or vertical with three high air flow RGB Fans, providing the easiest adjustment to allow you easily using various graphics card and PC case combinations.

Because the tool combines several effects that are often built manually, it can provide a quicker starting point for a film-inspired look. It should still be used carefully: grain, halation, and gate weave can become distracting when applied too strongly, particularly after compression or when viewed at small sizes.

Fusion and VFX updates

MultiPoly rotoscoping

Fusion received the MultiPoly tool, intended to make rotoscoping complex objects easier. Rotoscoping often requires several animated shapes to isolate different parts of a subject or to follow changing contours. A tool designed around multiple polygons can reduce the friction of managing those shapes.

It does not make rotoscoping automatic. Fast movement, motion blur, changing perspective, hair, transparent objects, and partial occlusion can still require detailed keyframing and cleanup.

Expanded USD tools

Resolve 19 also expanded its Universal Scene Description, or USD, tools in Fusion. This is particularly relevant to VFX artists and teams moving 3D scene information between applications. For a typical editor assembling interviews or social videos, the USD improvements are less immediately important than the Edit-page changes; for a compositing or 3D pipeline, they can be more consequential.

Fairlight audio improvements

In addition to tracking-based audio panning, Resolve 19 added ducker track effects and ambisonic surround-sound capabilities.

A ducker automatically reduces one audio element when another takes priority—for example, lowering music beneath dialogue. A track-level effect can make that relationship easier to manage than manually drawing every volume change, although the settings still need to be checked for natural timing and release behavior.

Ambisonic support extends Fairlight’s usefulness for spatial-audio work. The correct workflow depends on the project’s capture format, monitoring setup, and delivery specification, so “surround sound” should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every project will be mixed correctly without appropriate monitoring and export configuration.

Blackmagic Cloud and collaboration

Blackmagic also announced new Blackmagic Cloud features aimed at larger customers and collaborative workflows. These were presented in the context of teams sharing projects and media rather than as a universal change to every Resolve installation.

The exact collaboration setup depends on the customer’s Blackmagic Cloud plan, storage arrangement, project-library configuration, and current service documentation. Organizations should verify those details before assuming that a feature mentioned in the 2024 announcement is included in their plan or works identically in the current Resolve 21 environment.

Free Resolve versus Resolve Studio

DaVinci Resolve is available in a free edition and a paid Studio edition. The free version is a capable editor, color-grading application, Fusion compositor, and Fairlight audio workstation, but Studio adds the DaVinci Neural Engine, additional Resolve FX, temporal and AI spatial noise reduction, text-based editing, Magic Mask, film grain, optical blur, and other advanced functions.

The distinction is especially important for Resolve 19 coverage because the New Features Guide explicitly labeled IntelliTrack AI as Studio Version Only. The same caution applies to other AI-assisted or advanced effects: a feature appearing in a Resolve announcement does not automatically mean it was available in the free edition.

Should you download the Resolve 19 beta?

No— not for a new project in 2026. The beta was a historical test version announced on April 12, 2024, and Resolve 19 subsequently received a stable release in August 2024. Blackmagic’s current product and download pages identify Resolve 21 and Resolve Studio 21 as the active major products as of August 12, 2026.

If you are maintaining an old project or matching a team’s established version, use the exact version required by that project and confirm plug-in, operating-system, and collaboration compatibility before changing installations. Otherwise, start with the current version and read its release notes and system requirements rather than relying on the Resolve 19 beta announcement.

Blackmagic’s current download page lists desktop versions for macOS, Windows, and Linux, along with an iPad download for the current product line. It gives current desktop baselines of macOS 12 Monterey, Windows 10 Creators Update, and Rocky Linux 8.6 or CentOS 7.3. Those requirements belong to the current page and should not be treated as the exact system requirements for the Resolve 19 beta.

A useful hardware companion for Resolve editing

Resolve does not require a dedicated controller, and buying hardware is not a prerequisite for using either the free edition or Studio. For editors who spend much of their time cutting and trimming, however, the DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor is a directly relevant accessory. Blackmagic describes it as a Resolve-focused controller with dedicated edit-function buttons, transport controls, a jog/search dial, USB-C connectivity, and Bluetooth BLE support. Its official technical specifications list a $435 price and state that the package includes a DaVinci Resolve Studio activation key; verify current pricing and bundle terms before purchasing.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Speed Editor makes the most sense for editors who value physical transport and trimming controls. It is less compelling as a first purchase for someone primarily doing color grading, Fusion compositing, or Fairlight mixing, and it should not be presented as a Resolve 19-only product.

Resolve 19 in context

The public beta was important because it brought several parts of Resolve closer together: AI tracking could inform both visual and audio operations, transcription could lead directly to timeline edits, and the application continued to combine editing, color, VFX, and audio in one environment. But the correct way to describe it now is as the 2024 preview of a major release—not as the latest DaVinci Resolve version.

For current users, the practical takeaway is simple: learn the Resolve 19-era concepts if they match your workflow, but consult the current Resolve 21 documentation for availability, edition restrictions, supported operating systems, and collaboration details.
