The original Nexus 5 wallpaper pack contains eight stock images associated with the phone’s Android 4.4 KitKat-era software. The collection was published by Droid Life on October 31, 2013, after the Nexus 5 factory image became available, with the files attributed to the Android development community via XDA.
Important: the historical Droid Life page is still online, but its external MediaFire download is not a currently verified Google-hosted archive. Treat it as a historical source, inspect any ZIP you download, and do not install unrelated APKs or other system files.

Original source status: Droid Life’s article remains accessible, but its linked external download destination may have changed or disappeared. The page originally offered a full-size ZIP and displayed resized previews. Check the archive before opening it.

Contemporary Android coverage also listed Google Drive and Mega mirrors, but those are third-party hosts rather than official Google archives. Availability, integrity, and authenticity should be checked before relying on any mirror. See DroidViews’ historical mirror information for context.
Because the current archive has not been independently inspected here, no particular mirror is presented as a guaranteed live or malware-free download. The safest option is a preserved archive with clear provenance, a known file count, documented dimensions, and—ideally—a checksum.
What should be in the pack?
The historically reported set contains eight Nexus 5 stock wallpapers. The images were extracted from the Nexus 5 software ecosystem rather than created as a later fan gallery. A genuine wallpaper-only archive should contain standard image files—normally JPG or PNG files—and no software that needs to be installed.
Do not confuse the stock pack with:
- Generic “Nexus 5” fan art or search-gallery images.
- Phone renders and promotional artwork.
- Nexus 5 ringtones, notification sounds, launcher APKs, boot animations, fonts, or factory-image components.
Large wallpaper sites may use “Nexus 5” as a search label while including unrelated landscapes, abstract art, anime images, and other designs. For example, Wallpapers.com’s Nexus 5 collection is better treated as a broad discovery gallery, not proof that an image is an original Google/LG asset.
How many pixels are the original wallpapers?
The historical sources disagree, so no single resolution should be treated as definitive without examining the actual files. Techtrickz reported 3,966 × 3,966 pixels, while DroidViews includes metadata referring to 1,920 × 1,920 and 2,160 × 1,920 versions.

Those figures may describe different exports, resized copies, or inaccurate metadata. A gallery preview is not necessarily the same file as the full-size ZIP. After downloading, check each image’s properties or information panel and record:

- Number of image files: historically, eight.
- Pixel dimensions.
- File format and file size.
- Whether the image has been recompressed or visibly resized.
Do not call the pack “4K” merely because a third-party gallery uses that label. A “HD” or “4K” tag does not establish that an image came from the Nexus 5 system software.
Safety checklist
- Download an image archive, not an APK, executable, ROM package, or “wallpaper app.”
- Check the filename and extension before opening the download.
- Scan the ZIP with current antivirus software.
- Extract it on a computer or with a reputable file manager.
- Expect image files only. If the archive contains
.apk,.exe,.msi,.bat, or.scrfiles, delete it. - Avoid pages that require browser notifications, surveys, download managers, or unrelated extensions.
If a link is dead, use a reputable Android-community mirror or an archived reference—not a random APK or ROM site. If no mirror can be verified, it is better to use clearly labeled previews than to treat an unknown download as authentic.
Set a Nexus 5 wallpaper on Android
- Download the ZIP or an individual image.
- Extract the archive if necessary.
- Open the image in Gallery, Google Photos, or a trusted file manager.
- Choose Set as wallpaper or Use as wallpaper.
- Select the home screen, lock screen, or both.
- Adjust the crop preview and confirm.
Exact labels vary between Android versions and manufacturers. You do not need root access, a custom recovery, or a custom ROM to use an image file.

The Nexus 5 pack may contain square or differently proportioned files, while many current phones have much taller displays. Even a high-resolution source can therefore be cropped.
- Use the original file: do not save a screenshot or a web gallery thumbnail.
- Disable scrolling or parallax: turn off the option if your launcher or wallpaper setter offers it.
- Choose fit or uncropped placement: some wallpaper tools provide these controls.
- Crop a duplicate manually: make a copy with the target phone’s aspect ratio and keep the focal area clear.
- Protect the lock screen: leave important details away from the clock and notification areas.
Techtrickz historically recommended Image2wallpaper for controlling resizing, but that is an old third-party recommendation; check its current availability and compatibility before using it.
Blurriness usually means the preview was downloaded, the image was recompressed, or the phone generated a low-resolution crop. Download and extract the full-size image, then set it locally from the gallery or file manager.

Use the images on another phone or computer
Yes. The image files can generally be copied to another Android phone, an iPhone, a tablet, or a computer. The visual result depends on the destination display’s aspect ratio, wallpaper-scrolling behavior, crop settings, and image compression.
A wallpaper made for the 2013 Nexus 5 will not necessarily fit a modern tall phone edge to edge. The device may crop the sides, top, or bottom. A computer may add side margins or stretch the image depending on its fill setting.
Original pack versus modern alternatives
The historical extracted pack is the better choice when authenticity matters. Modern galleries offer more variety and sometimes provide device-specific crops, but their “Nexus 5” labels do not prove an official connection. Keep alternatives clearly separate from the original stock files.
Likewise, a wallpaper download is not a system modification. There is no reason to install a launcher, boot animation, font package, or ROM merely to apply these images. Mixing those extras into a wallpaper download adds compatibility and security risks without helping the basic task.
Copyright and personal use
Historical blogs made the images available for download, but that does not establish that they are public domain or licensed for unrestricted redistribution. These are software-associated stock images extracted from the Nexus 5 ecosystem and redistributed by third parties.
Using one as a personal device wallpaper is different from republishing, selling prints, packaging the images into an app, or using them commercially. Verify the applicable rights and obtain permission where necessary before doing any of those things.
