Short answer: Picsart is a capable, beginner-friendly creative suite for quick photo edits, social graphics, and short videos. Its free tier can handle occasional basic work, but useful tools and assets are gated; paying makes most sense if you use them regularly. The 2025 prices below are a U.S.-dollar snapshot from an Apple App Store listing, not universal prices. Picsart’s plans and pricing have since changed, so check the price and renewal terms shown on the platform where you plan to subscribe.
What is Picsart?
Picsart is more than a photo-filter app. It combines photo and video editing with collages, social-media designs, templates, stickers, fonts, stock content, background and object removal, AI tools, cloud storage, and—on higher tiers—brand and team features. The appeal is speed and convenience: templates, presets, and guided tools help beginners make polished-looking content without a professional design workflow. That convenience is different from the fine control and specialized tools found in professional photo, illustration, or video software.

See the referenced App Store listing. Its multiple product names are one reason not to assume every subscriber saw the same plan lineup. Prices could differ on Picsart’s website or Google Play, between countries, and with promotions or taxes. The evidence does not establish a single worldwide 2025 price or a complete official comparison table for every month of that year.
Annual billing warning: A monthly-equivalent figure is not necessarily a monthly payment. An annual subscription is generally charged upfront for the year. Check the checkout screen for the amount charged today, the renewal date, and the renewal price; Picsart explains the monthly-versus-yearly distinction in its subscription-plan guidance.
What did free and paid Picsart offer?
Free
Picsart’s free experience offered basic editing and some creative tools, but it was not unrestricted. Premium assets and advanced capabilities may be locked behind a subscription, and users report ads, upgrade prompts, and paywalls. The exact free feature set can vary with the app version, account, region, and offer screen, so treat the current in-app feature labels—not an old plan list—as authoritative for your account.
Paid plans
Across subscriptions, Picsart describes benefits such as advanced editing tools, ad-free use, exclusive content, increased storage, and additional credits. Depending on the plan and period, paid access can include premium filters, fonts, stickers, templates, background or object removal, stock content, AI features, and cross-device use. Pricing update: the plan names and tiers have changed
As reflected on Picsart’s official pages on August 16, 2026, the lineup had shifted toward Pro and Ultra, with AI credits and generative features more prominent than in the older Gold-centered offering. Prices and features are volatile, so use these as a dated reference and check Picsart’s current pricing page before buying.

The annual figures are monthly equivalents: the annual amount is charged upfront, before any regional adjustment or applicable tax shown at checkout. Pro’s displayed annual saving implied about $126 for a year; Ultra’s yearly price was displayed at about $60 per month per seat. Verify the actual billing amount and seat count before confirming.
If you subscribed to Gold earlier, seeing Pro in your account does not necessarily mean you purchased a new tier. Picsart says Gold subscriptions were upgraded to Pro while retaining the existing price and billing cycle for subscribers who remain subscribed. See the Gold-to-Pro transition explanation.

How good is Picsart for real editing work?
Photo editing and design
Picsart is well suited to social posts, thumbnails, collages, portrait touchups, creative composites, stylized edits, background removal, and quick promotional or product graphics. Its templates and asset library can shorten the path from idea to shareable image. It is less suited to professional RAW cataloging, detailed nondestructive color work, high-end retouching, precise print production, complex vector illustration, or large-scale publishing.
Video
It can serve creators making short social videos with simple edits, effects, transitions, and captions. The available evidence does not establish parity with a dedicated nonlinear editor for detailed timeline control, audio mixing, color grading, or export management. If those are central to your work, compare a video-first tool such as CapCut rather than choosing Picsart solely because it includes video features.
AI tools and credits
Background or object removal can save time on social and product content, while generative tools can help with ideation and visual variations. The practical value depends on how often you use them: estimate your monthly number of generations and edits, then compare that workload with the included credits. If you only need AI occasionally, unused monthly credits expiring at the billing-cycle end can make a subscription poor value. Frequent generation may require a higher tier or extra credits, turning an apparently low plan price into a recurring cost.

G2 review summaries consistently identify ease of use and beginner accessibility as strengths. Templates, presets, one-tap tools, and guided AI features make it easy to start. More involved multilayer compositions, precise masking and typography, color management, or professional print work require more care and may be better handled in specialist software.

Some reviewers report lag, slow rendering, or processing and export problems, particularly as a concern with larger projects or demanding effects. These are recurring user reports, not evidence that every device or project performs poorly. Device capability, project complexity, and network-dependent processing can all matter.
What users like—and what they complain about

Is Picsart worth paying for?
- Casual editor: Stay free if you mainly crop, apply a filter, make an occasional collage, or create simple images—and can live with ads and locked tools. A subscription solely for one infrequent edit is hard to justify unless the trial terms clearly work for you.
- Social creator: A paid plan can be worthwhile if premium templates, assets, background removal, or AI tools save time several times a month. Compare the monthly workload with the plan’s credits and renewal cost.
- Student or budget-conscious user: Start with free access. Pay only if a specific gated tool is important enough to justify the recurring charge; do not assume an old App Store price is still available.
- Small business: Pro may suit regular promotional graphics and quick product edits. Ultra is easier to justify when you actually need higher AI volume, multiple brand kits, team seats, bulk work, localization, or ad variations.
- Professional photographer: Picsart can be a useful creative companion, but it is not a replacement for a dedicated RAW, cataloging, and color workflow.
- Video-first creator: Try a video-focused editor if timeline precision, audio, or export controls matter more than having photo and design tools bundled together.
- Team buyer: Check seat rules, billing ownership, and administration needs before committing. Picsart says Team is included with Ultra purchased through its website; admins manage billing and membership, while team members do not. Its help guidance says the number of seats cannot be changed mid-subscription.
Trials, cancellation, renewals, and refunds
Subscription complaints deserve attention, but they do not establish that Picsart is fraudulent. A trial can convert to a paid subscription if it is not canceled before renewal, and trial availability or duration can depend on account eligibility. Before tapping subscribe, note the trial end date, renewal amount, billing period, and the store or website responsible for billing.
- Website subscription: Use Picsart’s support and refund process for website purchases.
- Apple subscription: Manage cancellation and refund requests through Apple’s subscription and purchase systems.
- Google Play subscription: Check Google Play’s billing, cancellation, and refund process for the purchase.
Canceling generally stops the next renewal rather than immediately ending paid access; Picsart’s current pricing FAQ says benefits continue through the paid period. Confirm your account’s displayed end date after cancellation. The official pricing page and subscription support section are the appropriate places to check current instructions.
Privacy note
Before uploading personal, client, or business images, review the app’s privacy disclosures and permissions. The referenced App Store listing says Picsart may handle identifiers, usage data, contact information, user content, search history, purchase history, and diagnostics. What data is collected and how it is used can depend on the platform and settings; check the current listing and privacy terms for your region.
