Award ribbons come mainly as flat hanging ribbons or rosettes. Choose a flat ribbon for a simple place label or short imprint; choose a rosette when a gathered, more prominent presentation suits the award. Before ordering, compare the actual dimensions, imprint area, attachment, personalization, quantity, and delivery timing for the specific product.
What types of award ribbons are available?
Flat award ribbons
A flat ribbon is a straightforward hanging strip, often used to identify a place or carry a short imprint. Supplier listings show examples in satin, but the material, cut, and construction depend on the item.
Rosette ribbons
A rosette has a gathered or pleated top and may include one or more streamers. Its shape and scale vary across products, so check the listing for overall size and the dimensions of the rosette or header.
Other varieties
Catalogs may also group ribbons by purpose, such as recognition, identification, or a particular event. For a specialized design, a Waldhausen horse-themed prize ribbon is one example: its listing describes a double-layer rosette with a horse-head center application. That equestrian design is a product-specific example, not a general design standard.

What’s the difference between a rosette and a flat award ribbon?
The main difference is presentation. A flat ribbon is a simple strip that can display a place or brief message; a rosette adds a gathered top and may use streamers for a more elaborate look. The right choice depends on how prominent the award should appear and what information or artwork must fit. Compare the full dimensions and imprint placement for the actual products rather than relying on the form name alone.
What sizes do award ribbons come in?
Supplier listings illustrate the range, but they do not establish a universal sizing standard. Blue Ribbon Awards lists flat satin examples measuring 2 × 6, 2 × 8, and 3 × 10 inches. Award and Sports lists a stock rosette measuring 3 × 10 inches. These are individual catalog examples; confirm the exact item dimensions before ordering.
