Christmas 2025 spending figures tell different stories in the United States and Great Britain. A U.S. survey estimated average seasonal spending at $890.49 per person and asked what gifts people would like to receive; a Great Britain survey measured planned ways to manage Christmas costs. These are survey findings and plans—not a single global spending total or a record of what people ultimately bought.
What the Christmas 2025 figures measure
The National Retail Federation (NRF) and the Office for National Statistics (ONS) examined different populations and questions. NRF’s U.S. estimate covers intended seasonal spending and desired gifts. ONS’s Great Britain findings describe cost-management plans among adults planning Christmas purchases. Neither source makes the other country’s results directly comparable.
