The ACMER P3 48W is an enclosed diode laser engraver with CoreXY motion, a 400 × 390 mm working area and a manufacturer-listed maximum engraving speed of 800 mm/s. Those numbers describe the machine on paper, not independently measured results. ACMER also advertises cuts up to 30 mm plywood and 45 mm dark acrylic, but its comparison page lists separate one-pass figures; neither should be treated as a guaranteed result for every material or setup.
What the ACMER P3 48W is
ACMER’s US product page names it the “ACMER P3 48W Diode Enclosed Laser Engraver.” The manufacturer describes a CoreXY motion system, integrated camera and enclosed design. Its comparison page lists a 400 × 390 mm working area, overall dimensions of 577 × 655 × 286 mm and a weight of 19 kg. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. ACMER offers multiple P3 configurations, including 48W/24W and 24W variants. Package paths include basic, rotary, rotary/conveyor and all-in-one options, so confirm the exact machine and included accessories rather than assuming every listing has the same contents.

What can it cut?
Maximum-thickness claims versus one-pass figures
ACMER’s product page claims the 48W configuration can cut up to 30 mm plywood and 45 mm dark acrylic. Its comparison page separately lists maximum and one-pass figures, including 18 mm plywood and 22 mm black acrylic for the P3 48W/24W configuration. These are distinct manufacturer claims, not results from a standardized independent test reported on those pages. A stated maximum thickness should not be read as a one-pass cut, and the one-pass figures are not a promise for every sheet.

Material composition, color, coatings and other properties can affect laser results. “Plywood” and “acrylic” are not uniform materials, so a thickness claim alone does not establish edge quality, speed, repeatability or suitability for a particular project. No repeatable independent cut testing or measured throughput is established by the cited product materials.
Material compatibility and settings
ACMER lists paper, wood, leather, MDF, felt, opaque acrylic, stainless steel, bamboo, fabric, dark glass, ceramic, jade, marble, shale, cement, brick, plated metal and painted metal among materials its modules can work with. This is a manufacturer capability list, not blanket confirmation that every listed material is safe or appropriate to process. Do not assume an unknown plastic or coating is suitable for laser exposure.

ACMER maintains a P3 48W material-settings resource and links a parameter file. Use material-specific starting guidance, then test on scrap; do not treat one setting as universal. The exact feed and power values are not reproduced here because they can change and should be checked in ACMER’s current resource.

ACMER lists compatibility with ACMER Studio, LightBurn and LaserGRBL. Its product page also lists Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android, but that list does not establish that every named application works on every listed operating system or device. The downloads page lists a P3 user manual, drivers, firmware and TF-card resources. It showed firmware V1.0.8_20240702 in the retrieved listing; that is a version reference, not confirmation that it is still the latest firmware.

ACMER describes the P3 as FDA Class 1 and says opening the lid stops the machine. Its product copy states: “After the lid is opened and the machine stops, closing the lid will automatically resume engraving.” These are manufacturer statements; the cited materials do not independently establish the applicable certification record, test conditions or complete risk profile. The classification language should not be interpreted as proof that laser operation is risk-free.

ACMER’s EU product page has surfaced an AP220 air-purifier promotion, and its support center lists accessories such as rotary and air-assist equipment. Those listings establish optional product paths, not a verified fume-control performance level or complete ventilation recommendation. Check the needs of your specific materials and workspace rather than assuming an accessory listing settles them. ACMER support center

Price, stock and package choices
When the official US storefront was checked for the source snapshot, it displayed $1,049 for the P3 48W/24W configuration and marked it out of stock. That is a dated listing, not a current price or availability guarantee. Check the live product page for the exact configuration, bundle contents, inventory and any promotion before deciding. If comparing packages, account for whether you need a rotary or conveyor accessory and verify compatibility with the selected P3 configuration. The available official specifications do not establish comparative value against other enclosed diode machines. A fair comparison would also require like-for-like tested cut samples, software support, safety documentation, included air handling, warranty and current total cost.
What the available evidence does—and does not—show
The official ACMER pages provide a useful specification outline, software list, material resource and accessory options. They do not establish independent throughput, cut quality, reliability, noise, smoke-capture performance or comparative results. Treat the P3’s headline figures as manufacturer specifications and cutting claims, and seek comparable test evidence if those performance outcomes are central to your buying decision.
