The Aibot Collection was announced in April 2023 as a set of 1,000 AI-generated NFT characters created by an individual using the name MechAndCheese. The project grouped the characters into 12 reported species or categories and imagined a future in which humans, robots and artificial intelligence work together. It was a fictional art and world-building project, not a functioning robotics, medical, financial or security service.
The launch announcement provides useful historical details, but it was promotional rather than independent reporting. It does not establish the collection’s current price, sales record, smart contract, copyright license or continuing activity.
What the Aibot Collection was
The Aibot Collection was presented as an NFT art project: 1,000 fictional “Aibot” characters represented by AI-generated or AI-assisted images, names and descriptions. The announcement was published on April 23, 2023, and identified the creator as MechAndCheese. It said work began in February 2023.
The project’s premise was speculative. Each Aibot represented a specialized artificial-intelligence helper in a future where people and machines cooperate. The concept gave a large set of images a shared setting and vocabulary, rather than presenting the tokens as software agents that buyers could actually operate.

The launch account is documented in TechBullion’s April 2023 announcement. Because that article largely repeats the project’s own claims, details such as sales, ownership and technical implementation should be treated as unverified unless supported by blockchain or project records.
Who created it?
MechAndCheese was credited as the creator. The announcement described the project as the work of one person who was inspired by AI-generated art, reportedly had no previous AI experience and completed the collection in a few weeks.
That public description does not establish the creator’s legal identity, professional background, ownership structure or continuing control of the project. It also does not provide independent evidence of how much of the work was generated, edited or selected by the creator.

How artificial intelligence was used
The announcement said AI helped produce the visual artwork and that ChatGPT was used for names and descriptions. It presented AI as a way for one person to produce a large, themed collection quickly.

“AI-generated” is not the same as “made without human involvement.” A collection of this size normally still involves human decisions about prompts, rejected outputs, selection, ordering, naming, metadata and presentation. The available announcement does not identify the image-generation model, prompts, seeds, editing software, training-data provenance or curation workflow.
Three useful distinctions
- AI-generated imagery: an image model produces the visual output.
- AI-assisted creation: a person directs the process and may edit, select and contextualize the results.
- Generative collection production: related outputs are made at scale under a common theme.
The evidence supports describing Aibot as an AI-assisted, generative NFT collection. It does not support the stronger claim that an autonomous system independently created a finished art project.
The characters and the reported 12 categories
The announcement said the 1,000 Aibots were divided into 12 species or categories, but it did not publish a complete list of those categories. Three named examples were:

These roles are branding and world-building. They should not be read as promises of utility. The public announcement does not provide the other nine category names, trait definitions or a reliable catalogue showing how the 1,000 characters were assigned.

What the fictional world was trying to say
Aibot’s narrative combined two ideas: specialized AI assistants could handle different parts of daily life, and generative tools could expand the creative capacity of a solo artist. Finance, health and home protection supplied recognizable examples of that imagined division of labor.
That framing is best understood as speculative storytelling. Nothing in the available material shows that the collection delivered assistants, integrations, services or a product roadmap. The practical subject of the project was collectible digital art, not deployed artificial intelligence.
How the NFTs and marketplace offering were described
An NFT links a digital asset or its metadata to a blockchain token. The token can record transfers and a current holder, but token ownership is separate from copyright, image ownership and any commercial license.

The historical floor-price claim
The April 2023 announcement said the OpenSea collection had a 0.012 ETH floor price. That was a launch-period observation, not a current valuation. No current floor price, trading volume, completed-sales history, holder distribution or continuing marketplace activity has been established here.
The Aibot Omnibus
The same announcement described an “Aibot Omnibus”: a spiral-pattern composition containing all 1,000 Aibots and limited to 10 copies. It does not specify whether those were ten individually minted tokens, an edition mechanism or merely ten marketplace listings. No contract or token-standard details were provided.
What owning an Aibot NFT would mean
A buyer should separate four questions:
- Token ownership: does the blockchain show that your wallet owns the specific token?
- Image access: can the artwork and metadata still be retrieved?
- Copyright: did the creator transfer any exclusive rights?
- License and benefits: may you reproduce, sell, modify or commercially use the image, and is any membership or future access promised?
The announcement does not disclose a copyright license or detailed buyer terms. Owning a token therefore should not be described as owning the underlying artwork’s copyright. A token may also point to off-chain files whose storage method and persistence are unknown. OpenSea’s documentation explains how collections can use collection-level metadata and external or decentralized references, but it does not show how Aibot was implemented: OpenSea contract-level metadata documentation.
What can and cannot be verified today
The available evidence also does not establish the image model, production prompts, selection method, all 12 species, blockchain, metadata hosting, creator’s legal identity, licensing terms, documented sales or post-launch development. Those are material omissions for anyone evaluating the project as art, technology or a purchase.

Readers should also avoid confusing this collection with unrelated businesses using the name AIBOT, including an autonomous-aviation company documented at aibot.ai/about and aibot.ai/detail?id=29. The NFT project is specifically the MechAndCheese Aibot Collection.
How to assess the project as art
- Conceptual coherence: Do the assistant roles create a convincing shared world?
- Visual consistency: Do 1,000 works feel related without becoming repetitive?
- Human curation: Is there evidence of selection, editing or sequencing rather than unfiltered output?
- Technical provenance: Are the model, prompts and production stages documented?
- Metadata quality: Are names, traits and descriptions complete and durably stored?
- Historical significance: Does the collection record an early 2023 intersection of generative AI and NFTs?
- Market evidence: Are sales and collectors verifiable independently of promotional copy?
The project’s strongest historical interest is its scale: it illustrates how a single creator could use emerging AI tools to build a themed collection quickly. Its weaknesses are the limited technical record, unclear rights and lack of verified evidence about what happened after launch.

- Match the contract address and blockchain to an independent block explorer or creator-controlled channel.
- Inspect completed sales, not only a displayed floor price or active listing.
- Check whether token metadata and image files are on-chain, on IPFS or on a centralized server.
- Find written copyright, commercial-use and modification terms.
- Verify the creator’s identity signals and any current support or development claims.
- Decide whether the offer is for art, a collectible, membership access or something else; do not infer utility from names such as Aibot-Heal or Aibot-Guard.
- Treat scarcity, including the reported ten-copy Omnibus, as a supply fact rather than proof of artistic or financial value.
Do not use the historical 0.012 ETH figure as a buying benchmark, and do not treat the collection as an investment on the evidence available.
Why the Aibot Collection still matters
Aibot is a useful case study in the early generative-AI/NFT overlap. It shows the appeal of combining rapid machine-assisted image production with character lore and a fixed collectible supply. It also exposes the questions that become more important as scale increases: who curated the outputs, how provenance is documented, what rights transfer with a token and whether a marketplace listing remains meaningful after launch.
On the evidence available, Aibot is best approached as a historically interesting 2023 AI-art experiment by MechAndCheese. Its fictional assistants are not operating products, its launch price is not a current valuation, and a token—if one can be authenticated—would not by itself grant copyright or guaranteed future benefits.
