Erin Napier’s reported go-to Sherwin-Williams white is Dover White SW 6385, a warm-leaning neutral Homes & Gardens says she most often uses on trim in her own home. Napier’s quoted description is that it “makes any room feel warm and crisp.” That makes Dover White a plausible choice for a softer, polished backdrop—not a guaranteed fit for every room or style.
Which Sherwin-Williams shade does Erin Napier favor?
Homes & Gardens identifies Dover White SW 6385 as Napier’s go-to white and reports that she most often uses it on trim at home. The publication attributes the phrase “It makes any room feel warm and crisp” to Napier. Homes & Gardens’ report is secondary coverage, so it supports calling Dover White one of her favorites—not her only favorite.
There is another shade to consider: Homes & Gardens also lists Rock Bottom SW 7062 and Comfort Gray SW 6205 among Napier’s favorites. A 2026 AOL article likewise identifies Rock Bottom as a Napier favorite. The title’s singular wording therefore should not be taken as proof that she has one definitive favorite Sherwin-Williams color.
Does Dover White look warm or stark?
Napier’s reported “warm and crisp” description points to a white intended to feel inviting rather than icy. White paint can still read differently from one room to another: the light in the space affects how a shade appears, so a name or published description cannot guarantee the result on your walls.

Dover White may suit a room where you want a light neutral with some warmth, including trim, the application Homes & Gardens says Napier uses most often. Whether it looks sufficiently bright, soft, or warm in your home depends on the room and its lighting.
Can Dover White work beyond farmhouse style?
A neutral white can be considered across a range of interiors, but “works with any style” is too absolute to promise. The furnishings, other colors, and amount and quality of light all affect how the shade relates to a room. Sherwin-Williams provides color guidance organized by design style, which can help you think through a palette; it does not establish that one paint color suits every style or setting.

If you are weighing Dover White against another Napier-attributed favorite, Rock Bottom SW 7062, the practical distinction is visual weight: Dover White is the light neutral under consideration, while Rock Bottom is a much more dramatic dark. AOL reports that Rock Bottom can appear black, green, or deep blue in changing light, attributing that description to Napier. This is not a controlled side-by-side comparison, so judge both colors in the room where you plan to use them.
How to test Dover White before painting
- Choose a sample format. Sherwin-Williams lists color chips and repositionable peel-and-stick samples among its sample options. See its Finest Whites & Neutrals and Top 50 Interior Paint Colors resources for sample guidance and color information.
- Place a substantial sample in the intended room. Sherwin-Williams advises testing samples in place because lighting changes how colors appear. A small chip viewed away from the wall may not give you the same impression as the color in the room.
- Check it at different times of day. Look at the sample as the room’s light changes. If you are also considering Rock Bottom, compare the samples in the same room and under the same conditions rather than relying only on descriptions.
- Decide in context. Consider how the white looks beside your existing finishes and furnishings, and whether its appearance suits the role you have in mind, such as trim or a larger painted area.
The cited color and style pages do not establish a specific product line, finish, coverage, durability, or price for Dover White. Confirm those details with Sherwin-Williams for the product you intend to buy.
