Free holiday projects include more than Christmas crafts: you can find winter decorations, handmade cards, printable activities, and projects for Hanukkah and Kwanzaa, too. These collections offer free ideas and instructions; check each project for its materials, age suitability, and whether it needs a template or video before you begin.
Choose a project by holiday and format
Start with the kind of activity you want to do. A printable coloring page is quick to prepare, while a paper ornament or handmade card takes more time and supplies. These collections vary in the holidays they cover and in how they present each project.

Michaels’ page describes a 12-project Winter Workshop that began December 1, 2025. Seasonal workshop availability can change, so check its page to see which projects or materials are currently accessible.
Match the project to the people doing it
Choose with the youngest participant in mind, and read the individual instructions before setting out materials. The collections include children’s crafts, but they do not establish one age range that fits every project. Check the directions for any age guidance, tools, or steps that call for adult help.

- For a specific celebration: Browse by holiday rather than assuming every collection focuses on Christmas. PBS KIDS, for example, includes Hanukkah and Kwanzaa activities alongside winter and Christmas projects.
Check materials before you start
Free instructions and printables do not mean every material is free. A project may call for craft supplies, while another can use items already at home. Check the selected project’s list first; buy or gather only what it actually requires.
The Joy of Sharing recommends basic supplies such as glue, craft sticks, pom-poms, and wiggle eyes, and suggests reusing paper plates, paper rolls, plastic spoons, gift wrap, bottle caps, and newspapers. Crayola’s collection includes projects such as air-dry clay ornaments and cardstock gift boxes. Substitute household materials only when they suit the instructions and the finished project.

Find free holiday craft printables
For a project with little setup, look for coloring pages, activity sheets, gift tags, or templates. PBS KIDS offers Christmas printables and coloring pages, Crayola includes free printables, and Michaels’ Winter Workshop page features templates and gift tags. The Joy of Sharing and Paris Corporation also provide printable craft resources. Check the page for the specific file or template you want; a collection may mix printable activities with projects that require other materials.

A simple way to decide
- Choose the holiday or season. Browse collections that name the occasion you have in mind, including winter, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or Christmas.
- Pick the format. Decide whether you want written directions, a video, a printable, or a template.
- Check the directions and supplies. Confirm the project’s age guidance, materials, and any steps that may need help.
- Adapt thoughtfully. Use household or recycled materials when the instructions allow, and skip a project if it depends on supplies or tools you do not have.
