“Heart images” can mean two very different things: diagrams of the anatomical organ or decorative heart symbols and emoji. For learning, choose a labeled diagram that makes the heart’s chambers and blood flow clear; for messages or designs, choose a heart character and remember that its displayed artwork varies by platform. In either case, check permission before reusing an image.
Choose the kind of heart image you need
- For learning about the organ: look for a normal-anatomy diagram with labels and flow direction. A simple overview is usually easier to read than a highly detailed illustration.
- For a card, message, or decorative design: look for a heart symbol or emoji. The text character and the platform’s colored artwork are not the same thing.
- For teaching or publication: check the image’s individual reuse terms, attribution requirements, and any limits on commercial use before copying it.
What a useful heart anatomy diagram shows
A basic teaching diagram should identify the heart’s four chambers—two atria and two ventricles—show the valves, and make the direction of blood flow easy to follow. In the standard circulation overview, oxygen-poor blood travels from the body through the right side of the heart to the lungs. Oxygen-rich blood returns to the left side and is pumped to the body.
For an introductory overview, see the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s How the Heart Works and its explanation of what the heart looks like. The CDC’s How the Heart Works also includes a normal-heart diagram; the page is dated December 14, 2025. For a reviewed normal-anatomy image, MedlinePlus provides Normal anatomy of the heart, reviewed May 5, 2025.

- General overview: prioritize four clearly labeled chambers, valves, and arrows or another clear indication of flow. Distinct colors can help distinguish oxygen-poor and oxygen-rich blood.
- More detailed study: look for named vessels, valves, and internal structures. A reference with labels is more useful than an unlabeled decorative rendering.
- Condition-specific illustration: check whether the image depicts a disease or abnormality rather than normal anatomy. A normal anatomy diagram is not a diagnostic tool.

- LIFE-SIZE CARDIAC ANATOMY WITH 34 LABELED STRUCTURES: This two-part human heart model accurately represents all major cardiac features including ventricles, atria, valves, coronary arteries, and veins. Every numbered structure corresponds to a detailed full-color study manual for guided learning.
- HIDDEN MAGNETS HOLD IT TOGETHER SECURELY: The front wall detaches and reattaches with strong internal magnets, giving you clean access to internal chambers without fumbling with clips or loose pieces. Smooth to reassemble, durable enough for repeated classroom handling.
- BUILT FOR MEDICAL STUDENTS, USEFUL FOR EVERYONE: Whether you're prepping for an anatomy exam, explaining a diagnosis to a patient, or teaching cardiovascular physiology, this model gives you a clear, hands-on reference that a diagram simply cannot match.
- FULL-COLOR STUDY MANUAL INCLUDED: The included booklet uses actual photographs of the model, not generic illustrations, so every label maps directly to what you're holding. Great for self-study, curriculum use, or patient consultations.
- AXIS SCIENTIFIC QUALITY, BACKED BY A 3-YEAR WARRANTY: Hand-painted, professionally designed, and supported by a US-based team. If anything is wrong with your model, we make it right.
Heart symbols and emoji are characters, not one universal picture
If you want a heart for a message or design, Unicode’s character charts list heart-related characters, including colored hearts and an anatomical-heart emoji. Its emoji list includes forms such as beating and broken hearts.
A character’s appearance depends on the platform or vendor that renders it. Unicode explains: “The colored images used in the Unicode emoji documents and charts are for illustration only.” If a particular colored design matters, use the relevant vendor’s artwork and check that vendor’s terms; Unicode directs users to vendors for permission to use their emoji images. See Emoji Images and Rights.

- VERSATILE TEACHING AND DISPLAY: Designed for medical students, professors, and clinicians, this anatomical heart model serves both individual study and professional patient communication. We offer the standard life-size model for personal desk use as well as a 2X enlarged version for enhanced visibility in large lecture halls.
Check image rights before reusing a heart image
An image being visible online does not establish permission to download, republish, modify, or use it commercially. Terms can differ between images on the same site, so check the specific item rather than assuming a site-wide rule applies.
