These are manufacturer claims, not independent performance test results, and they do not establish that the machine is suitable to attach to or wear with a costume.
Ulanzi says the included fog liquid uses vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol in an 8:2 ratio. The manufacturer reports approximately 12 minutes of maximum continuous output per fill and approximately 100 minutes per 60 mL bottle. Those figures are manufacturer estimates; actual use may differ. Its page identifies compatible fog fluid and an atomizing chamber as accessories. Use only fluid specified for the machine and follow its manual—do not make or modify fog fluid.

Plan for fog, heat, alarms, and the venue
Fog and haze are not just visual effects. Ontario’s live-performance guidance identifies respiratory impairment, chemical sensitivity, reduced visibility, hot equipment, and slips as potential hazards. Fog may also activate fire-protection and life-safety systems. The guidance recommends using commercially manufactured products as directed, avoiding direct concentrated exposure, keeping equipment under competent-person control, and locating machines away from traffic and emergency exits. Ontario’s film and television guidance likewise says not to modify fog or smoke products with dyes, fragrances, or other chemicals, and warns that residue can create a slip hazard.
These are workplace guidelines, not certification for a wearable costume setup and not a statement of any convention’s policy. Before taking fog equipment to an event, check the rules with the specific venue or convention and confirm any fire-protection requirements. The FM01 manufacturer also advises controlling fog volume to avoid false fire alarms. If its green protective film falls off, Ulanzi says to stop using the device and replace the battery.

- Read and follow the fog machine’s instructions, including its requirements for compatible fluid.
- Keep fog output away from people’s faces and avoid concentrated exposure.
- Keep equipment out of walkways, emergency exits, and other traffic areas.
- Do not assume that a handheld device is safe to mount on a costume or operate while worn.
Keep the costume wearable and visible
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s Halloween advice recommends costumes that fit and do not drag, flame-resistant fabrics, avoiding large billowing garments near fire, and ensuring masks provide adequate ventilation and full vision. Those basics matter for any Ghost Rider-inspired look: a dramatic silhouette should not obscure the wearer’s view or create tripping hazards. Flame-resistant fabric does not make real flames or pyrotechnics safe around a costume.
CPSC’s 2013 Halloween release reported more than 3,500 Halloween-related injuries during October and November of the preceding year. That is a historical agency figure, not a current annual estimate; the reported incidents included burns, pumpkin-carving lacerations, falls associated with ill-fitting costumes, and collisions linked to impaired vision.

A practical choice for a painted Ghost Rider look
For a flame effect that avoids fog, build the visual around flicker LEDs and the costume’s painted details. If you want fog as well, treat it as separate event equipment rather than assuming it belongs on the wearer: use a compatible, manufacturer-approved machine and fluid, manage exposure and visibility, and obtain venue approval first.
