To create a Mixbook photo book from iPhone pictures, upload your photos to Mixbook, add them to a book project, arrange and review the pages, choose the book’s size and finish, then place your order. Mixbook offers direct phone uploads and automatic layout tools, but you should still check every page before buying.

1. Choose the photos you want to include
Before uploading, decide which pictures belong in the book and roughly how you want them grouped—for example, by trip, event, or date. This makes it easier to arrange the pages once your photos are in the project. You do not need to have every page planned in advance.

2. Upload iPhone photos to Mixbook
Mixbook identifies its iPhone app as the easiest direct phone-upload route. If you would rather use mobile web, Mixbook’s instructions also describe uploading through a QR code or an emailed direct link. The instructions are Mixbook’s; screens and labels may change.

- Open Mixbook on your iPhone, or use the mobile-web upload option.
- For a first phone upload, choose whether to allow access to none, selected, or all of your camera-roll photos. Mixbook recommends full access for the best experience, but use the access level you are comfortable granting.
- Select the photos and upload them. Mixbook recommends uploading in batches of up to 20 to help avoid delays or timeouts. Use a stable internet connection; Mixbook also suggests Chrome for browser uploads.
- Return to the book project. Open Photos, choose add more photos, then select add from uploads to bring the uploaded pictures into the project.
Mixbook says successfully uploaded photos appear in an uploaded-photos folder sorted by the date they were taken, newest first. If a picture is missing from the project, check that folder and use add from uploads rather than assuming the upload automatically placed it on a page.
3. Start the book and add photos to pages
You can build the layout yourself or use an automatic design feature to get a first draft. In Mixbook Studio, the documented manual method is to select a photo in the Photo Tray and drag it onto a page; the service also describes adding photos in its app. See Mixbook’s photo-placement instructions.

Arrange pages around the pictures
Place photos where you want them, then review each page’s composition. Check that the subject is not awkwardly cropped, that faces and important details remain visible, and that the sequence makes sense when the book is read from page to page. If a photo crosses a page boundary, inspect how the center fold affects the image before settling on that design.

Mixbook’s Auto-Create feature can make an initial arrangement from photos uploaded to Mixbook, a phone or another device, or a connected service such as Facebook or Google Photos. Its workflow includes checking warnings and choosing the book’s size, cover, and paper. Treat the result as a draft: review and adjust the pages rather than assuming the generated layout is ready to print unchanged.

Consider Story Mode if it is available to you
Story Mode uses a prompt-based approach: describe the book, add photos, and Mixbook generates a print-ready design. Mixbook’s Help Center, updated September 30, 2026, says Story Mode is available on Mixbook.com for all devices and in the Mixbook app on iPhone and iPad running iOS 16.0 or later. Feature availability can change, so check the Story Mode Help Center if you do not see it.
4. Choose the format that suits the photos
In the creation flow, you can change the book’s size, paper, orientation, and cover. Pick based on the pictures and how you want to use the finished book, not just on a template preview. Mixbook’s format instructions explain where to make these choices.

- Cover and paper: Choose the available finish that fits how the book will be handled and displayed.
- Lay-flat option: Mixbook describes lay-flat books as opening flat for seamless two-page spreads. It can suit a panoramic photograph or a design intentionally spanning both pages, but is not required for an ordinary photo book. Check the specific options and price shown for your selected book.

5. Review the book before ordering
Take a final pass through the whole project, including any warnings shown by Mixbook. Automatic design tools can save setup time, but only a page-by-page review can catch a crop, sequence, or layout choice you would rather change.

- Inspect crops, especially around faces, text, and other important details.
- Check images that span two pages against the center fold.
- Look for blank or unintended pages and review Mixbook’s warnings.
- Verify the selected size, orientation, cover, paper, and any lay-flat option.
