Whether you can recover deleted ibisPaint artwork depends on whether another copy still exists. Check Cloud Storage under the account that synchronized it, the Online Gallery if you posted it, an IPV export, a device or file backup, or surviving time-lapse history. ibisPaint says artwork with no surviving copy or backup cannot be restored through its documented methods.
Before troubleshooting, do not uninstall ibisPaint, clear app data, reset the device, or delete anything from Cloud Storage. If the artwork still appears on another device, preserve that copy first.
First identify what was deleted
“Deleted artwork” can mean the project disappeared from My Gallery, the device copy was removed while a cloud copy remains, the project was deleted from Cloud Storage too, or a layer was deleted inside a project that still opens. The recovery route depends on which copies or history remain.
Choose the recovery route

1. Recover the artwork from ibisPaint Cloud Storage
Cloud recovery is possible when the artwork synchronized and the cloud copy remains. Sign in using the same account that held the copy, open My Gallery, and use Cloud Synchronization to inspect or download it. An artwork marked cloud-only is stored in Cloud Storage but not on the device; download it to restore a local copy.

- Open ibisPaint and sign in with the account used for Cloud Storage.
- Open My Gallery and inspect the cloud artwork list through Cloud Synchronization.
- Download the artwork marked as cloud-only to the device.
- Keep My Gallery open and the device awake until synchronization finishes.

Be careful when deleting artwork
When removing an artwork from a device to free space, choose the option that leaves its Cloud Storage copy intact. Choosing to delete it from both places removes the cloud copy too. ibisPaint warns that deleting artwork from Cloud Storage can also stop synchronization with another device, so check the deletion choice carefully.
2. If Cloud Storage is empty
An empty cloud library may mean the artwork never synchronized, synchronization did not finish, the cloud copy was deleted, or you are using a different account. Check that you are signed in with the same authentication account that held the artwork. A Premium purchase account is not necessarily the account used for Cloud Storage.

It also says non-premium cloud artwork is deleted after 180 days without Cloud Storage use, and that files above the reduced 64 MB capacity are deleted 30 days after Premium cancellation. These are service terms that may change; confirm current capacity and retention rules in the app or on the official Cloud Storage page before relying on them.
When synchronization may not have finished
A scheduled or stopped sync does not establish that the latest artwork reached the cloud. ibisPaint notes that synchronization may require My Gallery to remain open and the device to stay awake. Check the cloud copy before assuming it contains the latest version.

3. Download a copy from the ibisPaint Online Gallery
Cloud Storage and the Online Gallery are separate. If you previously posted the artwork publicly, you may be able to download its IPV file from the gallery.
- Open the ibisPaint Online Gallery.
- Sign in to the account used to post the artwork.
- Open the artwork’s detail page and download the IPV file.
- Open the downloaded file with ibisPaint.
This restores the version that was posted. Later edits that were not included in that upload may be missing. Only check the Online Gallery if you previously posted the work; publication involves sharing the artwork.

An IPV file is an ibisPaint artwork file that can be reopened and edited. Look in the device’s Files app or file manager, computer backups, cloud-drive folders, and any other location where you may have saved an export. ibisPaint lists Cloud Storage, Dropbox, individual IPV export, AirDrop or Mac Finder for iOS/iPadOS, and Quick Share or USB cable for Android as ways to move existing artwork files.
- Locate the IPV file or backup.
- Open or transfer the file to a device with ibisPaint.
- Open it in ibisPaint and check My Gallery for the imported artwork.
- Save another copy outside the app if it opens successfully.
These methods move or reopen an existing copy; they cannot recover an artwork that was never copied.
5. Save an earlier state from time-lapse history
If the artwork’s time-lapse history is still available, ibisPaint’s History retrieval function may let you save an earlier artwork state as an IPV file. This can help when you need a past state after deleting a layer, but it does not recover a project or history that no longer exists.

- Play the artwork’s time-lapse and pause at the desired point.
- Open the menu and select Save Artwork at This Point.
- Find the saved IPV file in My Gallery and check that it opens.

6. Recover artwork after reinstalling ibisPaint or changing devices
Reinstalling ibisPaint does not by itself restore artwork that existed only in local app storage. Recovery depends on a cloud copy, an IPV export, a device or file backup, a posted Online Gallery version, another device, or surviving time-lapse data.
- If the old device still works, preserve it and check for the artwork there.
- Export important projects as IPV files or complete Cloud Synchronization.
- On the new device, sign in with the same account used for Cloud Storage.
- Open My Gallery and confirm that synchronization has finished.
- Open recovered projects before deleting anything from the old device.
Device backup inclusion and restoration behavior vary by platform. Check whether a backup predates deletion and what it will overwrite before restoring it. ibisPaint distinguishes artwork files from settings backups: an .ipcfg file is for settings transfer, not an IPV artwork file. What PNGs, screenshots, and videos can recover
A PNG, JPEG, screenshot, or exported time-lapse video may preserve the visible appearance of artwork, but it does not restore the original editable project structure. For editable recovery, look for an IPV file, Cloud Storage project, Online Gallery download, or a historical artwork state saved from time-lapse.
When recovery is probably impossible
If the artwork was not posted to Online Gallery, was not backed up or synchronized to Cloud Storage, and no other copy or usable time-lapse remains, ibisPaint says it cannot be restored through its documented methods. The official sources reviewed do not establish a general operating-system trash or recently-deleted path for ibisPaint artwork; behavior may vary by device and platform. Do not rely on third-party recovery apps as a guaranteed solution.

Does Premium recover deleted artwork?
No. Premium provides greater Cloud Storage capacity, but it is not an undelete service and does not establish that artwork permanently deleted from Cloud Storage can be recovered. Cloud Storage synchronizes artwork files, not settings such as brushes and color palettes; settings backup is separate.
Prevent future ibisPaint data loss
- Complete Cloud Synchronization for important projects and verify that it finished.
- Export irreplaceable projects as IPV files and keep them outside ibisPaint.
- Keep backups in separate locations and periodically check that they open.
- Before changing devices, preserve the old device and verify recovered projects.
- Back up custom brushes, palettes, and settings separately if they matter to your workflow.
- When freeing device space, do not delete the Cloud Storage copy if you still need it.
FAQ
Can I recover a deleted ibisPaint drawing without a backup?
Only if another copy remains in Cloud Storage, Online Gallery, another device, or surviving time-lapse history. If no copy or history remains, ibisPaint says the artwork cannot be restored through its documented methods.
Does ibisPaint have a trash folder?
The official sources reviewed do not establish a general trash or recently-deleted path for ibisPaint artwork. Device behavior may vary.
Can Premium recover art that was already deleted?
No. Premium increases Cloud Storage capacity; it is not an undelete service.
Can I restore a deleted layer?
Possibly, if the artwork and its time-lapse history still exist. Use History retrieval to save an earlier state as an IPV file.

Can I recover artwork after reinstalling ibisPaint?
Only if a copy was synchronized, exported, included in a device backup, posted to Online Gallery, or remains on another device.
Can a PNG restore my layers?

Why is my ibisPaint Cloud Storage empty?
