To sell wallpapers online, decide first whether you mean downloadable phone or desktop backgrounds, or physical wallcoverings such as rolls and murals. Digital designs need clear file specifications and reliable delivery; physical wallpaper needs material choices, accurate previews, samples, and shipping information. The best place to sell depends on which product you make and whether you want a marketplace or your own storefront.

Choose the kind of wallpaper you are selling
“Wallpaper” can describe several different products. Pick one before setting up a shop, because file delivery and physical production require different listings, pricing, and customer support.
- Digital device backgrounds: downloadable images sized and labeled for phones, tablets, or computers.
- Printable wall art: digital files intended for buyers to print as posters or other decor. Make clear that these are not wallcovering rolls.
- Physical wallcoverings: wallpaper rolls, panels, or murals that buyers install on walls. Material, pattern scale, quantity, samples, production, and delivery all matter.
Use original artwork or artwork for which you have the necessary commercial rights. Etsy explicitly says digital items in a shop must be made or designed by the seller, as set out in its digital listing guidance.
Compare five places to sell wallpaper online
These options serve different business models; this is a fit-based comparison, not a ranking by sales or audience size. A marketplace may provide a place to list products, but it does not guarantee customers or sales.

Redbubble is the clearest fit here for third-party manufacturing and fulfillment of physical products. It is not interchangeable with a dedicated wallcovering production and shipping setup, so confirm that the product format you want to sell is available before building your offer around it.

Prepare digital wallpaper files and listings
Make the product easy to understand
State the intended device or use, image dimensions, file format, number of designs, and any licensing or personal-use limits. Show previews on the relevant screens so buyers can judge the crop and composition. If a pack includes several sizes, name them clearly and explain which file suits which use.
Set up delivery that matches the platform
Etsy supports instant-download and made-to-order digital listings. Its published limit for an instant listing is five files, up to 20 MB each. If your files do not fit those constraints, revise how you package the product or choose a compliant delivery method; do not imply that a listing bypasses Etsy’s limits. Shopify can support digital goods on an owned store, but arrange the delivery experience and explain it in the listing. Gumroad is another option for selling digital packs, with fees that differ between direct/profile and Discover transactions.
Explain the buyer’s next step
Tell customers where to access their files after purchase and what to do if they have trouble opening them. Avoid promising compatibility with every device or app unless you have confirmed it. Make clear that a digital background or printable file is not a physical roll of wallpaper.

Show pattern scale, color, and material
Use product images that help buyers judge how a pattern reads on a wall, and identify the material or finish offered. Explain how customers select the design and quantity, and disclose production and shipping timelines before checkout. Do not rely on a small thumbnail to communicate repeat size or appearance.

A sample lets a buyer assess color, pattern, and material before committing to a larger order. York Wallcoverings recommends samples and lists a sample size of 8 x 10 inches; its page estimates USPS shipping at 5–9 days. Those details are specific to York’s offering, not a general standard for wallpaper samples. York Wallcoverings sample information. Make fulfillment responsibilities explicit
If you use a third-party production marketplace, check which production and shipping tasks it handles and how its deductions affect your payout. If you fulfill orders yourself, explain lead times, shipping coverage, and how you will address damaged or incorrect orders. The platform pages cited above do not establish a universal production timeline or shipping policy for independent wallpaper sellers.
Set prices with the full cost in view
Platform fees are only one part of the economics. Calculate using your location, product price, payment method, average order value, and how the buyer found you. For physical products, include materials, production, samples, packaging, and shipping; for digital products, account for design and delivery costs. The published Gumroad rates and Redbubble deductions above are platform terms, not evidence of a particular seller’s profit.
Check applicable fees, listing limits, policies, and seller eligibility for your country before launch. The platform terms can change, and the cited information does not establish eligibility for every seller or region.

Choose a starting route
- Original downloadable backgrounds and marketplace discovery: consider Etsy, while shaping the files and listing around its requirements.
- A branded store and control over presentation: consider Shopify, with a separate plan for customer acquisition and order support.
- A digital pack for an existing audience: consider Gumroad, and account for the different fee rates by sales source.
- Designs on platform-produced physical products: consider Redbubble, after confirming the products offered suit your wallpaper idea and reviewing its deductions.
- Physical rolls or murals: prioritize clear material and quantity information, samples, and reliable production and shipping arrangements; verify that the chosen sales channel supports the exact product.
