“T-shirt panties” is ambiguous, so this guide uses it to mean a comfortable T-shirt worn with underwear for sleep or lounging—not a specific underwear cut. Choose underwear by the coverage and feel you prefer; you do not need a matching set or a special style.

Choose a cut by the coverage you want
Underwear cuts mainly differ in rise, side length and back coverage. Names and exact shapes can vary by brand, so use these as general distinctions rather than exact specifications.

Consider fabric, waistband and fit
Start with the coverage you like, then consider whether the material and waistband feel comfortable against your skin. Björn Borg’s Canadian underwear guide describes cotton as soft and breathable, elastane as adding stretch and shape retention, and polyamide as smooth, lightweight and quick drying. Fabric blends vary by product, so check the garment details rather than assuming a material name tells you the whole composition.

For sizing, use the specific brand’s chart and fit notes. Wacoal India advises that cuts and fabrics can affect fit even when the nominal size is the same. A garment should sit flat without rolling, digging or sagging. Its regional guide to panties also describes cotton high-waist full-coverage briefs as an everyday option. That is one category to consider if you prefer more coverage, not a universally best choice.
Keep sleepwear separate from no-show styling
For lounging or sleep, choose what feels comfortable beneath your T-shirt. If you are instead trying to reduce visible underwear lines under fitted clothes, that is a separate styling concern: Jockey describes no-show styles as using finishes such as laser-cut or low-profile edges to help reduce visible panty lines. Follow the garment’s care instructions
Check the care label or product details first, since instructions depend on the garment. Jockey says most of its products can be machine washed and dried but directs customers to the individual label for exact care. Björn Borg advises washing with similar colors, using a laundry bag for delicate styles and avoiding excessive heat when air-drying to help preserve shape and elasticity.
