An Idul Fitri cartoon can be a greeting-card illustration, a child-friendly coloring activity, or artwork for a digital Eid message. Choose a format for how you plan to use it, add a greeting that suits your audience, and check the image’s license before printing or sharing it commercially. Common examples include families celebrating, mosques, crescent moons, lanterns and stars; these are creative options, not requirements for depicting Eid.
What can an Idul Fitri cartoon be used for?
Eid al-Fitr cartoons appear in several practical formats. A family illustration can work as a personal greeting, while outlines designed for coloring can turn an Eid card into an activity for children. Artists and organizers may also use illustrations in banners or posters, provided the image’s terms allow the intended use.
- Greeting card: Add a short Eid message to a printed or digital design.
- Coloring activity: Let children color an outline before giving the card to family or friends.
- Poster or banner: Use a suitable illustration for an event or classroom display, subject to its license.
- Animation: A cartoon may also be an animated greeting or educational piece; religious guidance on animation depends on the authority and what is depicted.
Examples on the market include family scenes with a mosque or a nighttime setting, and coloring outlines featuring mosques, crescents, lanterns, stars and hearts. Choose a format that matches the occasion

Write a greeting that fits your card
There is no need to use one formula for every audience. The University of Illinois craft handout suggests “Eid Sa’id” and “Eid Mubarak” for a card. Islamic Comics uses “Taqabbal Allahu Minnaa wa Minkum!” and explains it as “May Allah accept from us and from you.” These are sourced examples; choose the wording you know is appropriate for the person receiving the card.

A picture visible online is not automatically free to reproduce, modify, print for distribution, or use on merchandise. Read the terms attached to the exact image and license you obtain. Depositphotos’ cited listing describes a standard license with a print limit of 500,000 copies and an extended license with unlimited print rights plus merchandise, resale or free-distribution permissions. Those terms apply to that listing’s stated licenses, not to other providers or assets; verify the live terms and the specific license before commercial reuse.

For a personal card, also check whether the download allows printing and sharing with recipients. For a classroom, public event, or product, confirm that the license covers the audience, quantity and use rather than assuming a personal-use permission is enough. Jordanian Iftaa Board: cartoons used for teaching
In Resolution No. 161, dated 23 December 2010, the Jordanian Iftaa Board considered cartoons employed to teach Islamic rules. It concluded: “Cartoons which teach the rules of Islam, virtuous manners and Islamic etiquettes are permissible, because they have a positive influence on the formation of a child`s personality through developing his capabilities, enhancing creativity, enhancing religious and cultural information and teaching him standard Arabic.” This is the Board’s ruling on educational cartoons in that context, not a universal ruling on every image or use.

Selangor Mufti Department: purpose and depiction matter
The Selangor Mufti Department’s 2024 answer says studying or working in animation is permissible depending on what is depicted, and supports non-realistic drawing or animation for positive entertainment, education, da’wah or moral messages. A separate 2020 answer on the department’s site discusses a more restrictive position on complete depictions of living beings while allowing cartoons and comics with beneficial content. The answers should be read in their respective contexts, rather than condensed into a blanket claim that Islam either permits or forbids cartoons.

Greeting cards: another attributed view
Islam Question & Answer gives a separate answer about making and selling festival cards, including Eid cards, subject to appropriate wording. This is that site’s stated view; readers seeking religious guidance can consult an authority they trust.
