The Mini Log Cabin Bag is a small quilted tote pattern by Barbara J. Eikmeier, published by AllPeopleQuilt. The finished bag measures 8½ × 9½ × 1½ inches, with a 3½-inch finished Log Cabin block. The project uses assorted prints and 5-inch squares; follow the linked pattern’s full cutting chart for exact strip and piece dimensions.
Finished size and project overview
AllPeopleQuilt lists the finished dimensions as 8½ × 9½ × 1½ inches and the finished Log Cabin block size as 3½ inches. The project is a scrappy tote made from pieced blocks, with fabric handles and a quilted bag body. It is a sewing pattern, not a listing for a commercially sold finished bag.

Fabric and supplies
The pattern specifies these fabrics and quantities:
#1 Best Overall
- Pattern Name: Just One Jelly Roll - Log Cabin Hidden Stars
- Includes: Detailed instructions and diagrams for creating a log cabin variation quilt with a hidden star design
- Skill Level: Suitable for beginners and experienced quilters alike
- Fabric Requirements: One Jelly Roll (40 x 2.5" strips) and additional background and accent fabrics
- 2 red-print 5-inch squares
- 18 assorted cream or light-blue squares
- 18 assorted dark-blue or black squares
- 2 blue-print squares for the handles
- ⅜ yard of lining print
- ⅜ yard of thin batting
The lining and batting are each cut into an 11 × 21½-inch rectangle. The instructions also detail the strips and squares to cut from the print groups. Use the pattern’s chart rather than estimating cuts from the finished block measurement: its cutting directions assume 42 inches of usable fabric width, use precut 5-inch squares where specified, and include ¼-inch seam allowances.
AllPeopleQuilt describes the project as a scrappy tote made from 5-inch squares. Assorted prints are part of the design, but the exact quantities and cutting directions still matter; the description does not establish that any arbitrary set of scraps or substitute squares will work without adjustment.

Tools for cutting and sewing
The project page lists a sewing machine and thread. It recommends a cutting mat, ruler, and rotary cutter as basic quilting supplies. A rotary cutter is optional if you already have another accurate way to cut the specified fabric pieces; whichever method you use, follow the chart’s measurements.
See the tools listed for the project.
How the bag is assembled
- Piece the Log Cabin blocks according to the pattern’s cutting chart and block instructions.
- Assemble the bag body and make the handles. The pattern directs you to baste the handles in place.
- Layer the body with the lining and batting, stitch the layers while leaving an opening for turning, then turn the work and close the opening.
- Quilt the body as desired. The designer’s finishing approach also includes topstitching.
- Fold and sew the body to form the bag, then shape the bottom corners as directed in the pattern.
The AllPeopleQuilt project copy says the tote can be created “in a weekend’s time.” That is promotional guidance, not a verified completion-time estimate; actual time depends on cutting, piecing, quilting, and sewing experience.

What the pattern does not specify
The project page does not establish a load capacity, durability test, care instructions, or skill-level rating. It also does not provide a tested completion time. Treat the listed dimensions and materials as pattern specifications, not performance guarantees.
