Locket Studio by Marathon remains available as a free browser-based tool for preparing locket photos. Its official page offers a locket-code option and a no-code path; it is primarily intended for Marathon lockets, so owners of other brands should measure the opening and test-fit a paper print before using photo paper.
Open the official Locket Studio app, follow its prompts to choose a template and prepare your image, then print at 100% or Actual Size. The detailed shape, measurement, and 4-by-6-inch sheet workflow was reported in the original Techwalla guide; the current official page may not expose every interactive step in its accessible text.

Open the free Locket Studio tool
Go to locketstudio.com/app. The official page describes Locket Studio as a free tool for resizing and printing locket images. If you have a Marathon locket code, enter it and select Submit Code. If you do not have a code, select Proceed Without Code and follow the measurement-based prompts.
The original Techwalla guide reported in 2022 that Marathon recommended Chrome. Treat that as older guidance, not a current hard requirement; try a modern browser and switch if the app does not load correctly.
How to resize and print a locket photo
- Open Locket Studio. Use the official web app rather than a similarly named third-party page.
- Enter a code or proceed without one. Use the code for a Marathon locket when available. Otherwise choose Proceed Without Code.
- Choose the locket shape. Select the closest available shape, such as heart, oval, or circle, as described in the original guide.
- Measure the opening. Follow the tool’s prompts and measure the inside photo opening in millimeters, not the outside of the pendant.
- Upload and position your photo. Use the highest-quality original available. Keep faces and other important details away from the template edge.
- Review the crop. Check the heart’s point, the narrow ends of an oval, or the circular boundary so important details will not be cut off.
- Generate the print sheet. The original guide describes a 4-by-6-inch output. This refers to the printable sheet containing the prepared locket image, not necessarily the size of the insert.
- Print at actual size. Choose Actual Size or 100% if available, and disable settings such as Fit to Page or Scale to Fit.
- Test and trim. Print on ordinary paper first, cut out the insert, and test-fit it before printing on photo paper or making final adjustments.
Measure the locket correctly
Measure the photo cavity or visible opening, not the full pendant, decorative border, hinge, or outer bezel. The original guide says to measure the locket at its widest point in millimeters; the tool’s current prompts should determine which dimensions to enter.
- Heart: measure across the widest horizontal part of the inside opening; check height too if requested.
- Oval: measure inside width and height if the tool requests both. The narrow ends may affect the fit.
- Circle: measure the inside diameter from one edge of the opening to the opposite edge.
- Rim or cover: account for the lip, raised glass, or retaining ring; measure the area that will remain visible.
- Two-sided locket: measure each opening separately because they may differ.
Use a metric ruler with millimeter markings or calipers if available. For an irregular, curved, beveled, or asymmetrical opening, one width measurement may not describe the shape well.

- Fit to Page, Scale to Fit, and similar automatic resizing options are disabled;
- the output sheet matches the intended dimensions, which the original guide describes as 4 by 6 inches;
- a photo center has not enabled automatic cropping or resizing; and
- you have made a plain-paper test print.
Printer and retailer controls vary. If possible, compare the test print with a ruler or another known-size reference. Use photo paper for a more durable final insert, but test the fit on ordinary paper first.
Does Locket Studio work with every locket?
Not necessarily. The official tool is framed around finding the right size for a Marathon locket, especially when you have its code. The no-code workflow may help you prepare an insert for another brand, but the official page does not promise universal compatibility.
For a non-Marathon locket, choose the closest shape, measure the opening, and treat the first result as a template to test—not a guarantee. Cut a paper version and check whether it fits beneath the rim without gaps or buckling. Adjust as needed before printing the final insert.

Locket openings are small, so composition matters as much as dimensions. A vertical portrait may lose too much of the subject in a horizontal opening. Use a wider original photo when appropriate, and position faces away from the cut line. In a heart-shaped template, keep important details away from the point and upper curves; in an oval, keep them away from the narrow ends.
Resizing cannot restore missing detail. For a sharper result, use an original camera file, a well-lit and focused photograph, and the highest-resolution version available. If the subject becomes unrecognizable after cropping, choose another image rather than enlarging a low-resolution one.

Fix common problems
The code is rejected
Re-enter the code carefully and confirm it belongs to that Marathon locket. If it still fails, try Proceed Without Code, measure the opening manually, and keep the locket’s packaging or order information in case you need Marathon support.
The photo is too zoomed in or a face is cut off
Reposition the image within the template and leave more room around the subject. If the crop removes too much, use a wider image or choose another photo.
The print is too large or too small
Check for Fit to Page or another automatic scaling setting, then verify that an image application or photo center has not resized the file. Reprint at 100%, compare it with a known-size reference, and confirm that you measured the inside opening rather than the outside pendant.
The insert will not fit
Check whether an interior lip, glass cover, curved surface, or decorative rim reduces the usable area. Test a slightly smaller paper insert, and measure each side separately if the locket has two openings.
The image is blurry
Start with a better source file. A screenshot or copy saved from a messaging app or social platform may be compressed. A small final print can still look soft if the original is unfocused or low-resolution.

The app does not load or behaves unexpectedly
Reload the official page, try a current browser, and check whether privacy or content-blocking settings prevent the interactive interface from running. If it remains unusable, prepare the shape manually in an image editor or use a local or professional photo-printing service.
Privacy and alternatives
Locket Studio requires you to upload a photograph, but the accessible official page does not visibly explain upload handling or retention. Do not assume images are processed locally or automatically deleted. If the photo is sensitive, review the site’s current privacy information before uploading, or use a local image editor instead.
Manual editing is another option: create a 4-by-6-inch document, place a measured heart, oval, or circle on it, and print at 100%. A local photo printer can also print the generated sheet, provided the service does not crop or resize it. Unusual vintage, curved, or asymmetrical lockets may need a custom template or professional locket-photo service.
