Sculpture by the Sea’s 20th anniversary exhibition ran free at Cottesloe Beach from 1 to 18 March 2024. It brought 71 artists from 14 countries to the beach and foreshore, with British sculptor Sean Henry and Nyoongar artist Sharyn Egan among the featured artists. The exhibition did not run in 2025, but Cottesloe listed its return for 6–23 March 2026.

When was Sculpture by the Sea at Cottesloe in 2024?
The 20th anniversary edition ran from 1 to 18 March 2024 at Cottesloe Beach and Foreshore in Western Australia. The Town of Cottesloe listed daily opening hours of 6:00am to 9:00pm. Admission was free.

Visitors could reach the beach by ramps or stairs at points along Marine Parade; that does not mean the sandy route or every part of the exhibition was wheelchair accessible. The Town of Cottesloe’s 2024 event listing gives the venue and access information.

What was special about the 20th anniversary exhibition?
Artists and works
In its 1 March event-day announcement, the Government of Western Australia counted 71 artists from 14 countries. Its earlier 1 February announcement had described more than 70 works and artists from 15 countries. Those are differently worded figures from separate announcements, so they should not be combined into a single count. The advance announcement forecast more than 250,000 attendees; it was a forecast, not a final attendance report. The organiser later described around 230,000 visitors as typical for an annual Cottesloe exhibition, not as the confirmed 2024 total. No confirmed final attendance figure is established by these sources.
Featured artists and program
Sean Henry, a sculptor from the United Kingdom, was the Tourism WA Invited International Artist. The event-day announcement identified his sculpture as Seated Man. The program also featured Nyoongar artist Sharyn Egan’s participatory work Balga Boola – Bigsmob Balga, two sunset Aboriginal dance performances, and an indoor exhibition of small works by participating artists. Most sculptures were available for purchase, according to the event-day announcement. Exhibition Catalogues and Kids’ Guides were available at onsite information marquees.
What access support was offered?
The 2024 Community Access and Inclusion Program included daily tactile tours, Auslan interpreting, beach matting and manual wheelchair loans, according to the Government of Western Australia’s 1 March announcement. These were program offerings, not a guarantee of an entirely accessible beach route or equipment availability at every time.

How could visitors get there?
For the 2024 exhibition, the organiser’s visitor guidance described the free Cott Cat shuttle loop connecting Cottesloe train station, the beach and Sea View Golf Club. The organiser’s current Getting There & Around page describes a 10:30am–6:00pm daily service during an exhibition, with a loop taking about 20 minutes, and warns that beach parking can be difficult on busy weekends. These are edition-dependent arrangements; check the organiser’s information for the relevant year before travelling. The page also covers cycling infrastructure and a picnic drop-off zone.

Yes. Sculpture by the Sea Incorporated announced on 3 December 2024 that the Cottesloe exhibition would be paused in 2025 because of insufficient federal arts funding. The Town of Cottesloe subsequently listed the 21st edition for 6–23 March 2026, marking a return after the one-year break.
