A portrait based on an Ashes photograph
Aguss painted Warne bowling, recreating Ian Hodgson’s photograph from the second Test of the 2005 Ashes at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The lettering and portrait made the mural both a personal tribute and a reference to a particular moment in Warne’s cricket career.
Why did the artists make it?
After hearing of Warne’s death on Friday night, Garnett and Aguss cancelled their plans for Saturday and decided to make a tribute. They began painting on Saturday and returned on Sunday to finish the work, completing it over two days, PerthNow reported.
