Metalli Rari’s May 2022 list named Giorgio Armani as the wealthiest person in its group, with an estimated net worth of $6.5 billion. The article attributed its figures to Forbes, but Forbes Italia published different estimates in other 2022 snapshots. These are dated estimates, not a single definitive Forbes ranking or audited personal balance sheets.
The eight names and estimates in the May 2022 list
The figures below reproduce Metalli Rari’s May 2022 list as published. Its ordinal labels included ties and skipped numbers, so the table presents the names and amounts without imposing a new rank convention.
| Name | Estimate in Metalli Rari’s May 2022 list |
|---|---|
| Giorgio Armani | $6.5 billion |
| Miuccia Prada | $4.7 billion |
| Patrizio Bertelli | $4.7 billion |
| Valentino Garavani | $1.5 billion |
| Stefano Gabbana | $1.2 billion |
| Domenico Dolce | $1.2 billion |
| Roberto Cavalli | $500 million |
| Donatella Versace | $400 million |
Metalli Rari attributed these amounts to Forbes. They should be read as that article’s reported estimates, rather than assumed to be values from one consistent Forbes Italia valuation date.

Why other 2022 Forbes Italia figures differ
Forbes Italia published several dated snapshots during 2022, and the estimates for people appearing in both sources changed across those reports. The amounts should not be merged into one ranking: each is tied to its own publication and valuation date.
| Publisher and date | Reported estimates | Valuation timing stated |
|---|---|---|
| Forbes Italia, April 2022 | Giorgio Armani: $7.8 billion; Miuccia Prada: $4 billion; Patrizio Bertelli: $4 billion | April snapshot |
| Forbes Italia, August 2022 | Giorgio Armani: $6.3 billion | Calculations current on July 15 |
| Forbes Italia, December 15, 2022 | Giorgio Armani: $6.9 billion; Patrizio Bertelli: $4.5 billion; Miuccia Prada: $4.5 billion; Domenico Dolce: $1.2 billion; Stefano Gabbana: $1.2 billion | Values updated to the December 5 market close |
Forbes Italia’s December figures are the clearest year-end snapshot in these reports, but they are not the same set of values as Metalli Rari’s May list. A difference between snapshots alone does not establish what caused an estimate to change.
Rank #2
Why Patrizio Bertelli appears in a list of designers
The “fashion designers” label does not fit every entry equally. Forbes Italia describes Patrizio Bertelli and Miuccia Prada as Prada co-CEOs. Bertelli is included in Metalli Rari’s list, but the cited description identifies him as a company executive rather than establishing him as a fashion designer in the same sense as the other names.

How to interpret the estimates
- Attribute each number to its publisher and date; “as of 2022” does not identify a single valuation point.
- Do not treat an estimated net worth as a precise, audited personal balance sheet. The cited reports do not explain each individual calculation methodology.
- Compare rankings only when the valuation dates and inclusion criteria match. Otherwise, report the snapshots separately.
