13×19 paper is a nominal 13-by-19-inch sheet, approximately 330×483 mm. It is commonly called Super B in the United States and A3+ in many printer and paper catalogs, although A3+ can be slightly narrower depending on the manufacturer.
13×19 paper is a sheet measuring 13 inches by 19 inches—approximately 330×483 mm. In the United States, it is often called Super B. Paper and printer manufacturers also commonly label the same general format A3+, although A3+ is not perfectly standardized and may be slightly narrower than an exact 13×19-inch sheet.
For painters, photographers, illustrators, and printmakers, 13×19 is useful because it is large enough for substantial artwork while still fitting many desktop professional inkjet printers. It also gives you room to print an A3- or 12×18-inch image with borders, trim marks, or bleed.

13×19 paper dimensions at a glance
| Measurement | 13×19 equivalent |
|---|---|
| Inches | 13×19 in |
| Centimeters | 33.02×48.26 cm |
| Millimeters | 330.2×482.6 mm, commonly rounded to 330×483 mm |
| Aspect ratio | 13:19, or approximately 1:1.462 |
| Common U.S. name | Super B |
| Common printer and paper-industry name | A3+ or A3 Plus |
Canon identifies the format as 13"×19" (Super B), while Epson documentation gives the metric equivalent as 330×483 mm. [C001][C002]
Is 13×19 the same as A3+?
Usually, it is very close—but you should not assume the dimensions are identical.
Exact 13×19-inch paper measures approximately 330.2×482.6 mm. Depending on the manufacturer, A3+ may be listed as 328×483 mm, 329×483 mm, or approximately 330×483 mm. Sawgrass, for example, lists A3+ as 328×483 mm while listing 13×19 inches separately. Hahnemühle describes A3+ as 329×483 mm and also associates it with 13×19 inches. [C003][C004]
For most artwork and photo-printing projects, the difference is insignificant. It can matter, however, when a sheet must fit a tight printer tray, bypass feeder, paper guide, cutter, or borderless-printing setting. When buying paper, check the actual millimeter dimensions on the package rather than relying only on the term “A3+.”
13×19 is not ISO A3
13×19 paper is larger than ISO A3 and is not part of the ISO A-series standard.
ISO A3 measures 297×420 mm—approximately 11.7×16.5 inches. A 13×19 sheet measures about 330×483 mm, so it provides noticeably more surface area. That extra space is useful for:
- Printing an A3-sized design with a surrounding border
- Adding bleed and trim marks for a finished piece
- Producing larger reproductions of paintings or drawings
- Placing multiple small images on one sheet for proofing
- Allowing a clean margin around a portfolio or presentation print
ISO 216 defines the international A and B paper series, but it does not define “13×19” as an A-series size. [C005]
13×19 is not ledger, tabloid, or 11×17
In the United States, ledger and tabloid generally refer to 11×17-inch paper, also called ANSI B. That is a separate, smaller format.

| Format | Approximate dimensions | How it compares with 13×19 |
|---|---|---|
| Letter | 8.5×11 in | Much smaller |
| A3 | 11.7×16.5 in / 297×420 mm | Smaller international format |
| Ledger / Tabloid / ANSI B | 11×17 in | Two inches narrower and two inches shorter |
| 12×18 | 12×18 in | Common finished-image size that fits on 13×19 stock |
| 13×19 / Super B | 13×19 in / about 330×483 mm | Reference format |
| A3+ | Commonly about 328–329×483 mm | Closely related, but not always exact |
Compared with 11×17 paper, 13×19 gives you two additional inches in both directions. The increase is useful when a print needs a larger image area or a generous border. Canon lists 11×17 Ledger and 13×19 Super B as separate paper formats. [C001]
What can you print on 13×19 paper?
The sheet size does not determine the finished image size. A 13×19 sheet can hold a full-sheet design, a smaller centered print, or several pieces arranged for trimming.
Fine-art reproductions and painting prints
For painters, 13×19 is a practical size for reproducing watercolors, acrylic paintings, oils, digital paintings, and mixed-media work. It is large enough to show brushwork and texture more convincingly than letter-size paper, but still manageable for home proofing, portfolios, and small exhibitions.
Fine-art suppliers offer 13×19 and A3+ sheets in cotton rag, matte, baryta, luster, textured, and deckle-edge formats. Hahnemühle lists 13×19 versions of papers such as Photo Rag, William Turner, and Museum Etching, while Moab offers 13×19/A3+ versions of its Lasal photo-media family. [C004][C009]

13×19 is a popular size for large photographic prints because it supports a significantly larger image than letter, A3, or 11×17. Some dedicated photo printers and wide-format multifunction printers support 13×19 output, and some professional photo printers support borderless printing at that size. [C007][C008]
Posters and presentation pieces
A 13×19 sheet works well for small posters, invitations, presentation boards, certificates, portfolio pages, promotional artwork, and proof prints. The right surface depends on how the piece will be viewed and handled:
- Glossy: Strong contrast and saturated color, but more reflections and visible fingerprints.
- Luster or semi-gloss: A middle ground between glossy impact and easier handling.
- Matte: Low glare and a softer appearance; useful for portfolios, writing, and artwork intended for close viewing.
- Fine-art cotton or rag: A tactile, premium surface for artwork and exhibition-oriented prints, provided the printer can feed it safely.
- Cardstock or cover stock: Suitable for invitations and presentation pieces, but only when the printer supports its thickness.
Sublimation transfers
13×19 also appears in sublimation workflows. Sawgrass documents 13×19 support for the SG1000 through its bypass tray and lists 13×19 sublimation-transfer media in its user guide. In this context, the paper is a transfer medium used with compatible heat-transfer equipment and substrates—not necessarily the final displayed artwork. [C003][C010]
Why print a 12×18 image on 13×19 paper?
A 12×18 image is a common choice because it fits within a 13×19 sheet while leaving approximately half an inch on each side if centered precisely. That extra space can be used for:
Rank #3
- White paper that enhances the brightness of the colours
- Extremely resistant to repeated corrections by scraping (no fluffing)
- Cold pressed textured, ideal for sharp and detailed works
- Microperforated sheets
- Visible white or colored borders
- Bleed beyond the trim line
- Registration marks and crop marks
- Handling space during trimming
- A signature or edition information outside the image area
A 12×18 image has a 2:3 aspect ratio, while the sheet itself has a 13:19 ratio. The image therefore will not naturally fill the entire sheet without cropping, stretching, or leaving margins. The paper size describes the stock loaded into the printer; it does not promise that the finished image will occupy every inch of it. [C006]
How many pixels do you need for a 13×19 print?
At a nominal 300 pixels per inch, a full 13×19 document would be:
13×300 = 3,900 pixels
19×300 = 5,700 pixels
That gives a planning size of 3,900×5,700 pixels.
At 240 pixels per inch, the equivalent document is:
3,120×4,560 pixels
| Print resolution | Approximate document size for 13×19 |
|---|---|
| 300 ppi | 3,900×5,700 pixels |
| 240 ppi | 3,120×4,560 pixels |
These are production-planning figures, not a guarantee of print quality. The result also depends on the source image, viewing distance, sharpening, printer, ink system, paper surface, driver settings, and ICC profile. A file with more pixels can still print poorly if it is soft, badly sharpened, or converted incorrectly. Breathing Color’s printing guidance emphasizes that the printer, paper, ICC profile, driver, and image dimensions all contribute to the final result. [C006]

Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Will any printer print 13×19 paper?
No. The printer must support the size, the paper path, and the specific media type. A printer’s maximum paper width is not enough by itself.
Use this compatibility checklist
- Confirm the nominal size. Look for 13×19, Super B, A3+, or a custom-size range that explicitly includes the sheet’s dimensions.
- Identify the correct feed path. Some printers accept 13×19 only through a rear feeder, manual slot, bypass tray, or specialty tray.
- Check borderless support separately. A printer may accept 13×19 but allow borderless printing only on certain paper types or through a particular driver.
- Check duplex restrictions. Automatic double-sided printing may not be available at 13×19, even when single-sided printing is supported. Epson documentation for one supported printer family specifically excludes 13×19 from automatic duplex printing. [C011]
- Check thickness and weight. Fine-art paper and cardstock may be much heavier or thicker than ordinary office stock. Confirm supported gsm, basis weight, and feed-path requirements.
- Check ink and coating compatibility. Some papers are optimized for dye inks, others for pigment inks. Use the paper maker’s profile and recommendations where available.
- Check the printable area. A 13×19 sheet may still have non-printable margins, so a “13×19” document may not produce a true edge-to-edge image.
Epson product documentation advertises 13×19 printing for models including the WF-7820 and WF-C879R, while Canon describes borderless 13×19 output for professional photo printers. These examples show that both office-oriented wide-format printers and dedicated photo printers can support the format, but compatibility remains model-specific. [C007][C008][C012]
How to choose 13×19 paper for artwork
Choose the surface based on the appearance you want, then verify the technical specifications against your printer.
For paintings and fine-art reproductions
Matte cotton rag or textured fine-art paper can give a reproduction a more art-like surface and reduce distracting reflections. Textured papers may be especially effective for watercolor-style work, but their surface can alter fine detail and color saturation. Test before committing to a large edition.

For vivid photographic color
Glossy paper generally produces strong apparent contrast and saturation. Luster or semi-gloss is often easier to handle and less reflective while retaining much of the visual impact of a photo surface.
For portfolios and presentations
Matte, luster, or heavier cover stock may be more practical than glossy media. Consider glare, fingerprints, whether viewers will write on the sheet, and whether the pages must be turned or stored in sleeves.
For durable or archival-oriented work
Do not assume that every heavyweight or cotton paper is archival, waterproof, or lightfast. Check the specific product documentation for those claims. “Fine-art” describes a product category, not a universal performance guarantee.
Paper weight can vary considerably. For example, Moab lists Lasal Exhibition Luster 300 at 300 gsm and Lasal Photo Matte at 230 gsm, and also offers double-sided 13×19/A3+ versions. [C009] The printer must support the actual product—not merely the nominal sheet size.
Buying 13×19 paper: what to check
If you are shopping for home printing, 13×19 photo paper is the most useful starting search phrase. Add the finish or application when needed:
- 13×19 matte photo paper
- 13×19 glossy photo paper
- 13×19 luster paper
- 13×19 fine-art paper
- 13×19 cotton rag paper
- 13×19 cardstock
- 13×19 sublimation transfer paper
Before ordering, compare:
- Exact dimensions in inches and millimeters
- Finish and surface texture
- Gsm or basis weight
- Coating and intended ink type
- Single-sided versus double-sided construction
- Number of sheets in the pack
- Printer and feeder compatibility
- Whether an ICC profile is available for your printer and ink
For a painting reproduction, exhibition print, or expensive paper, buy a sample pack or a few test sheets first. Make a small proof that includes skin tones or neutral grays if relevant, saturated colors, fine lines, dark shadows, and any important texture. Paper makers such as Moab provide product families and sample-oriented options, and ICC profiles can help match the paper to a particular inkjet system. [C009][C013]
Common mistakes with 13×19 paper
- Calling it ISO A3: 13×19 is larger and is not an ISO A-series size.
- Assuming every A3+ pack is identical: A3+ dimensions vary slightly by manufacturer.
- Confusing it with 11×17: Ledger or tabloid is ANSI B, not Super B.
- Expecting a 12×18 image to fill the sheet: Its proportions and the printer’s margins may leave borders.
- Assuming size support means borderless support: Borderless output may be restricted by media type, driver, or printer model.
- Ignoring thickness: A 300 gsm fine-art sheet may require a different feed path from ordinary photo paper.
- Using the wrong profile: The paper, ink, printer, and ICC profile should be treated as a matched system.
- Buying a large box before testing: The surface may not reproduce your painting’s colors or texture as expected.
Finishing and storing 13×19 prints
If your final artwork is smaller than the sheet, trim only after the ink or coating has fully dried according to the paper manufacturer’s guidance. Use a clean, accurate cutter for straight borders, and protect the printed surface from fingerprints and abrasion while handling it.
For storage, use sleeves, folders, or portfolio pages that actually accommodate 13×19 or the paper’s measured dimensions. Do not force a slightly oversized or heavily textured sheet into a tight sleeve. For valuable work, follow the paper and framing supplier’s recommendations for light, humidity, ventilation, and contact materials.

Bottom line
13×19 paper is approximately 330×483 mm and is commonly called Super B or A3+. It is larger than both ISO A3 and 11×17 ledger paper, making it useful for painting reproductions, photographs, portfolios, posters, and presentation work. The most important buying rule is to verify the exact dimensions, surface, weight, and printer requirements—especially when a package says A3+ rather than 13×19.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is 13×19 paper the same as A3?
No. ISO A3 measures 297×420 mm, while 13×19 measures approximately 330×483 mm. A3+ is a related commercial designation, but its exact dimensions vary slightly by manufacturer.
Is 13×19 paper the same as 11×17?
Not exactly. 11×17 is ledger, tabloid, or ANSI B. 13×19 is larger by two inches in both width and length and is often called Super B.
Can any printer print on 13×19 paper?
Some printers can, but support is model-specific. Check the manual for the supported size, feed path, borderless options, duplex restrictions, paper thickness, and media type.
What resolution do I need for a 13×19 print?
A nominal 13×19 document is 3,900×5,700 pixels at 300 ppi or 3,120×4,560 pixels at 240 ppi. The ideal file size also depends on the source image, viewing distance, printer, paper, and profile.
Can I print a 12×18 image on 13×19 paper?
Yes. A 12×18 image fits on 13×19 stock and leaves room for borders, bleed, trim marks, or handling space. The final layout may still have additional margins because of the printer’s printable area.
The Bottom Line
13×19 paper means a nominal 13-by-19-inch sheet, approximately 330×483 mm. It is commonly sold as Super B or A3+, but A3+ dimensions can vary slightly. Choose the paper surface and weight for your artwork, then confirm your printer’s feeder, borderless, duplex, thickness, and ink-compatibility limits before buying.
