What do the Boonji Spacemen represent?
Murphy says the figures are not primarily about outer space. On his official collectibles site, he describes them as representing “that leap into the unknown, the willingness to take a step when you cannot see where it leads.” Brendan Murphy Collectibles
Coverage of the exhibition similarly framed the Boonji Spacemen around embracing the unknown and the impulse to venture beyond familiar boundaries. That is an interpretation associated with the figures, not a single meaning established for every work in the exhibition.
